anyone know if its a big job taking the sump off a 1.8 cavalier ?just discovered a pinhole in mine and as luck would have it,it's right above the exhaust, only asking cos i'll need to put it into a garage to have it fixed ,as ive got nowhere to do it myself .

Doc, try Araldite first.
I know its a bodge but it wont do any harm if it doesnt work. You may have to drain the oil and jack the car up to get oil away from the hole but ive seen it done before and last for years.

make sure you give the affected area a really good clean/degrease, araldite needs a good clean surface to enable a really good bond.

And scratch it up.
If youre not confident with the repair. put some "Petro Patch" over the araldite.

Plug the hole with a small self tapping screw then Araldite or Chemical Metal?
