Title: FMD and Elephants Post by: tazet on September 17, 2007, 11:52:19 AM I told a few people that Elephants can get FMD, (Foot and Mouth), and thay just laughed at me. Well this is what I've just found on the DEFRA web site :P
Which animals are susceptible to FMD? Among farm stock, cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats are susceptible, as are llamas and alpacas. Some wild animals such as hedgehogs, coypu, and any wild cloven-footed animals such as deer and zoo animals including elephants can also contract it. http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/diseases/fmd/qanda/qanda-general.htm#5 Title: Re: FMD and Elephants Post by: PD on September 17, 2007, 11:56:36 AM nope! stil dont belive ya!!
and hedgehogs!?!? Title: Re: FMD and Elephants Post by: BikerGran on September 17, 2007, 02:03:39 PM Strange, I always understood it was a disease of cloven-footed animals. Yet they don't mention camels or giraffes. Maybe just because no-one knows if it's never happened.
