Aiming to ride the SP3 back to UK to sell it.
All of a sudden its developed a creak from the rear suspension. Sounds like a dry swinging arm pivot. Can't see any lube points.

Anyboby got any ideas or heard of this problem.
Its a old model 2005 with single sided swing arm.

(the sound when you depress the rear suspension is like a door opening in a Hammer House horror)

Also a few weeks ago the digi speedo started reading a maximum of 25mph, any ideas if this is a known problem before I get involved in changing sensors etc?

My Speed Triple was a 2000 model -pre digital speedo, so can't help you there I'm afraid. Didn't have any probs with suspension, other than pillions complaining the ride was too hard. Is the shock on rubber bushes? Maybe they just need moistening with a squirt of WD40?

usually just a drop of oil on the shock bushes and any other bits related to that as they do tend to creak after a while

Not the best idea using wd40, it can cause some rubber to bulge and split.

You must be jesting, i've known you nearly thirty years and you're still using that for your little intimate areas.

Try cooking oil or butter, they have no chemical additives.

Apparently needle rollers.
Its only done 13k.
If you put your hand on the linkage you can feel it vibrating as it creaks.
It is binding a fair amount as if you press down on the rear it stays there, and releases as the weight is transferred to the sidestand.

Tomorrow, fabricate hoist system in barn and dismantle, as much as lack of specialist tools allow. Unless you guys can advise more?

Cant bloody register the thing here as standard thats why its coming back!

£4k with the suspension sorted.

Right, stripped it down today and discovered the linkage thats creakink is the on attached to the ss swing arm. I had to clout it with a newton wrench to get it to move while still on the swinging arm.

Numerous cloutings back and forth have failed to loosen it, along with copious amounts on blood (type WD40)

Recon I have to pull the beariing, can anybody scan/list here/ point to a site where i can see the procedure?

Bobbi, you were spot on with that link, thanks for your effort.

Sadly when using the bolt to withdraw the bearing shaft, the threaded end of the shaft sheared, leaving the majority in the swinging arm. Boy it must be seized.
This is on a 2 year old bike with less the 13k miles. Thanks Trumf for no grease nipples, no wonder you went out of business, it will probably happen again >:(

So here I am in rural France with no engineering industry around, for example spark erosion, inline boring etc. Prolly gonna need a replacement ss swinging arm.

I don't believe there's no engineering around, you just haven't found it yet!

Wrap the swinging arm in brown paper & send it to Saddlebags. He's got a spark erroder.  ;)

failing that, wrap it in petrol soaked rag and set fire to it, when its burnt away then you can trike it  ;) ;D ;D

I think if he could get it off to do that the problem would have been solved anyway.......

Today I had my angle grinding frenzy.
Cut the top two legs of the H link.
Ground the remaining ally tubes through and chisled off, leaving the bare shaft seized in the swing arm.
Cut a 29mm section out of it and drifted the outer sheared end inwards and therefore out.
Luckily the blind half retracted easily.

Now I just need the new parts...

Is that the way Triumph recommend you do it?!

If the guy who designed it was advising, probably yes!
