Manky Monkey Motors

Without the parts in front of me, I need a definitive answer as to the normal direction of rotation ofa Reliant axle.
Using an XS1100 motor, it would appear that I will have 5 reverse gears unless I flip the pumpkin. Does anybody know if this is right?

(Feel free to take the Monkey Mickey as I thought that I had checked this before I cut the axle tubes!)

errrr yup siree bob ben there done it on a goldie i converted a few years back had a lot of gears backwards  until i flipped it stupid mistake but does happen  ::) ::) 8)

Made exactly the same mistake on the first trike I built -except that I narrowed one side of the axle more than the other so it'd match up with the offset bike engine prop. Discovered afterwards that I needed to flip the axle over so ended up having to cut up a second one. As the XS750s & XS1100s use the same bevel box, I'd assume both propshafts rotate in the same direction -therefore, yes, I think you'll need to flip it over.
I can check my Reliant trike tomorrow to see which way the prop turns & ByzMax has an 1100 he could check if you want to be 100% certain.

i think its a case of car goes clockwise an bike goes anticlockwise or tother way round its good for goin 80 mile an hour in reverse though ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

as a general rule if the drive shaft is on the left you have to flip the axle over if it is on the right it does not need flipping if you turn it over dont forget to weld the breather hole up and redrill one on the top
