Hi folks been thinking about building a trike, as my chop is nearly finished.
then a guy i work with says he is fed up with kids smashing up his pig, do i want it,
looks like my minds made up for me :)
its a g reg robin,
i have some experience of working on these as me mam has run em for years.
but this will be my first trike.
Found this site after meeting madron (top guy, local too)

the style will be short and stocky (i do like the one your doing) must seat 3,
it will be for my wife and she likes standard bike type trikes. not sure myself!
have been looking at model t ford bodies as an idea for the back end sort of munster 60's thing.
will be colecting bits probably be after xmas when i start building.
so for now ill just be asking loads of questions/spending loads of time on ebay
and trying to agree on a style with her ;D

Yes deciding the style is half the battle. The other half is building it.  ;D
By the looks of things mine will be done just like Manky's Green one but with all the bits that he couldn't or didn't want to do on his.  ;D  Basicly I will build it how he wants it, which I don't mind at all.  ;D

Hi everyone not been about for a while due to work, a few things have changed since last time, firstly the the bug has bit to build something Ive wanted since well forever really. a moggy thou, i blame reading monkeys and Shaun's pop threads :) not really, but after assessing building a trike i decided that trikes ain't for me but a car would be usefull, so i went and bought a 64 2 door saloon

it needs a fair bit of work before i start modifying, at the moment I'm just getting some cash together for repair parts, then i can start messing, mild at first. The chop is nearly finished mock up, with my home made girders.

good to see you back here mate. People seem to arrive here, stay for a while then disappear into their sheds & come back 6 months later! The chop looks great. A very nice job. Not a sissy bar man myself, so that's the only thing I'd change. Love it. What colour are you going for? I haven't met anyone who's put a bike through the SVA yet, so will be interested to hear how you get on. Any chance of leading us through the process once you start?
Home made girders? Erm, would you be interested in making another set? We're collecting parts for Taz's trike project at the moment & have acquired several front ends, none of which we're really happy with. As she's a country girl, (stable manager on a large country estate), we're going for a vaguely tractor ish sort of theme -tractor seat, wide painted steel wheels, Massey Ferguson grey paint etc. A set of girders would suit it perfectly.
Moggy's are great little cars! I've owned 3. A van, an ex Police Panda car & a van converted into a pick up with a 1600 Fiat SuperMirafiori engine. Sadly, no piccies of any of 'em.  :( Dave_Postie's just bought one too. He's planning to roof chop his. Brock's also got one in bits. He's using the body shell as a basis for his next drag car, so may have spares for sale if you need 'em.

For the sva ive got the paperwork downloaded from the vosa site,
im just in the middle of getting reciepts for the major components
engine
frame
wheels
front end,

as i have made the frame/forks im getting recipts for the tube etc.
 some of the parts on this bike ive had for near on ten years so getting reciepts is going to be fun,
ive heard sometimes they dont ask to see these but i dont want to take any chances.

I haven't got any receipts at all for my trike, cos, apart from the frame tubing, it's all second hand, bartered or home built. I've spoken to ByzMax, who's put a couple of trikes through the MSVA test, & he says you don't need 'em -it's up to the DVLA to prove your parts are stolen or whatever, rather than you to prove they're not. Q plates are for vehicles "who's identity may be in doubt", which covers ones with no receipts I guess. Only time you should need receipts is if you're going for an age related plate when rebuilding an old vehicle, in which case they asign a number of the age of your newest part.
If you've got receipts though, it's certainly worth taking them along isn't it. ;)

Nice chop m8, love the girders. Have you got a plan for them? I'd like a copy if you have. I like the sissy bar meself, gonna have one on the trike.

the pig was sold to a guy who runs a mechanic tech school and wanted a car to show the kids how to do mechanical jobs, so its been put to good use.

am working on some plans for them but its taking ages.
