Just picked up this 518i at the right price so just got to do something with it ;) ;D

Well whats planned is......one wheels coming off.............and I'm gonna make a wheelbarrow for Chrissie in the garden, using the boot for load capacity. may even slam it to the ground to lower the loading height, as she only has short legs. did even think of a roof chop but don't really need it as the archway through to the bottom of garden is quiet tall.
apart from that, i may just do something else with the bits left over ;) ;D 8)

hhhhhmmmmm here we have a big clump of wires and electronic bits from under the bonnet, never seen so many wires connected to an engine :o
really hope they arent all needed for trike build ;) did start to wish id used a reliant motor but this will be a little faster ;D ;D

managed to release engine, pipes/hoses and remove radiator today. hopefully will release g/box, prop and diff soon, ready to lift engine and box out ;)

All singing, all dancing, electonic ignition, fuel injection thingamajigs? You keeping all that Pete, or swapping to carbs? Is that 1800cc? Only marginally quicker than a mighty Reliant!  :D

There seems to be an awful lot of it!

front left of engine bay is airbox. rear right of engine bay (in front of steering wheel) is a "black box" of tricks with some sort of 1000 pin connector  :P ;D
yes its 1800 and will try to keep injection. just so its "marginally" quicker than the reliant ::) ;D ;)

finally got the engine/box out of the car......took too long but either ive not been so good or ive been over the island helping emily with her new house ::)

diff housing is now part loose and should be out in a day or two :)

thanks for that bg but i'll manage, just taking it steady. ive stopped work on it for a little while now though as a friend turned up yesterday with her nippi sport 125 for me to do some work on. may get time to work on bmw this saturday assuming weather is ok  :)

and no, she isnt having my bmw motor fitted into it. hhhhmmmmm its a thought though :o ;D ;D

yes its a "roll your wheelchair in the back" nippi. the rear n/s wheel bearings knackered, headstock bearings loose/knackered, tailgate return spring broken, brake shoes/pads worn....and what ever else i find, just to get it back on the road. the engine has been worked on by someone at the bottom of our hill (ricky knows who that would be) but since then it doesnt start very easily. it used to start at the touch of the button but now it takes ages and flattens the battery....that certain mechanic then sold her a new battery and fitted it inline with the original!!!! now it just takes longer to run down!!!

any ways, i'd better get back to workshop or i'll be getting told off  ;D ;D

I've never seen one without it's bodywork -what's hiding under there? Bike engine? Chain drive or shaft? What's the rear suspension off? What sort of frame has it got? Now's the time to take some close up shots for the write up you're going to do for us mate.  ;)

hi, have been thinking about using the standard 15" steel rims, but would like to split them in half, well 75% & 25% and weld the two 75% "halves" together, ***yes one would have the valve in ;) ::)***
Any one up for splitting them on a lathe? Not sure what size they will be until I find some cheap wide tyres though, this trike has to be built on a tight budget ::) :)

Lunatic recently posted a link to a VW forum Pete, where one of the members banded wheels for 40 quid a time. He could probably do the deed for you.

Yeah. We were in North Hants Tyres, a well known supplier of custom & vintage tyres & wheels, in Aldershot last week & they sold aerosols of rim sealant.
