Manky Monkey Motors

On the way home from the Soton MAG bike show I called in at Baiter POark in Poole to see my younger daughter kiteboarding (landboarding) with her new, larger kite (4.9 sq metres).  There was very little wind so it wasn't very spectacular, and it's difficult to capture the power involved, but I tried just flying the kite and she had to rescue me!  That with only a liitle more than 5mph wind!

This lad is only 10 years old, and quite small for his age, but he was flying a kite larger than Lucy's - apparently he's so good he's sponsored by a number of manufacturers!

It's a lovely area right on the edge of Poole Harbour.

errrm what happens if you have lift off do you have to let go of the kite :o :o :oi prefer my feet firmly on the ground ;)looks good though for the young uns ;D

No the kite has brakes!  See the handles - if you change your grip to the bottom of the handles it causes the kite to close and let the air out.  If it all happens too fast you can let go the handles and there are cords attached to the wristbands that work as emercency brakes and collapse it completely.

brakes !!!! on a kite what ever next ,stops you taking off into the unknown  :o ;) you learn summat new every day ;)

Well you wouldn't want to lose it - there's a few hundred quids worth there!

Oh no, she is an independent 30 year old and pays for her own pleasures!

Rainbow & I spent an afternoon at a classic car show there with Toad & his missus, Violet May, last year. The boarders were doing their thing at the far end of the green. Very impressive to see them doing jumps & flips & stuff while tearing across the grass attached to a kite.

I want to have a go :o :o :P ;D
