It breaks my heart to do it Flap :'( I've owned the old girl for 13 yrs but she needs lot's of money spent on her.The old Land Rovers Chassis is on its last legs, the front axle is fubared, all new shocks, the bulk head needs lots of welding and my wife will not go more than a few miles in it as it makes her deaf :-X ,I Keep praying for that lottery win ::) I also need something a little more drivable, thats why I've bought a sit up and beg Pop :-[ :-[ . which I'm going to Hotrod and fit a modern engine.

Been thinking the same thing ::) almost to good to attack, but it can have an exciting life with me as a Hotrod, carry motorcycles, surfboards etc  or a boring life of polish and endless mindless weekends at classic shows..... hard choice!!!!!! NOT ;D ;D ;D ;D

I am a confirmed Magpie, nothing leaves my garage unless it is totaly US or I need the pennies ;D ;D
Have to say that most of my stuff came in cheap through the right contacts and inpart due to the fact that I tend to work 12hr days 6 days a week so tend to have a little cash spare.
But with all that I still haven't built a trike as cool as Mankys :'( :'( :'( :-* ::) ;)

Sounds about right, I remember I was told it was 'the export version'.

Was a good little car, could get 70 out of it.  Only parted company when it started pumping oil out on top of the engine, p/exed it for the moggie.

As far as I can recall, the Anglia had a bigger engine & a different body & grill to the Prefect.
The Popular had the Anglia engine in the prefects body.

Shaun. Could you do me a big favour and measure the wheel PCD on your Pop?

Cheers.Doug

I will at the weekend.

Do I have a sale here??? ;)

Title: Re: EEEEEEEkkk
Post by: reliantman on February 14, 2007, 11:10:23 PM
Why I am asking is cos I have 2 s**tty piggy axles, and 2 steel Austin A60 wheels with 4 1/2 inch PCD which would fit on a Rascal axle.
I then saw your Prefect on here and britchopper, and googled it. Turns out the Pop had 17inch wheels and the Prefect 16inchers.
When I eventually get around to triking my Heap of russian crap, it would be nice to have some nice fat rear tyres to match the 16inch wire on the front.

Brock's emailed me the relevant page from the Pop Brown's catalogue, showing their range of steel wheels for Pops. I can't figure out how to post it here as it's in Adobe Reader. It's also not in my issue of the catalogue, so his must be an older or newer edition. Try giving them a ring on

I would agree , if it's not the same it is almost certainly an older or newer one  ;)

issue ten actually, no date that I could see.

Doug, why not get some wires from a sportscar, you can get them in 14-15-16" plus the adapters come undrilled so you get the PCD you require. I have a couple of spinners for the hubs in my shed I might let go at a good price ;).
Also I'm looking for a CHEAP Rascal back axle and leaf springs for the Pop/pickup conversion

Oooh, the spinners sound promising. I was just looking at a trike with wires on the UK BTW site.

Last time I asked in a srappy about Rascal axles, I was quoted £30.

Just out of interest I got this off flea bay.

Hi Doug, is'nt the ratio on the rascal diff a bit high? Do you know what it is?  I'm asking coz there are a few of them about and would like to use one on the son in laws trike. I thought that a suzuki diff had to be fitted to get the ratio down, is this correct?
Thanks
