Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: Manky Monkey on October 26, 2017, 08:24:33 PM I thought they'd gone bust. They've just sold their huge designer showroom/sales place for a tenth of what it cost to build.

Post by: Baychimp on October 29, 2017, 09:26:38 PM I read the other day that Paul jr has brought a smaller unit in Montgomery, New York state, and started out on his own. It said it was to be called Paul Jr Designs or something like that.
Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: stinkey on October 29, 2017, 11:10:19 PM Paul junior designs has been going a few years now
Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: paulywombats on October 29, 2017, 11:33:57 PM Oh, my apologies Stinkey, I thought it was a general discussion forum.
Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: paulywombats on October 29, 2017, 11:46:25 PM Anyway, back to the building. :)
If you recall Paul Sr other son ran a business doing the steel for such buildings. So taking into account the 'mates rates factor' Paul Sr will have erected the building at a rather favorable cost no doubt. Added to that the offset of tax dollars for depreciation of assets, including maintenance of the building etc. It makes good business sense to off load the building and, having agreed a 10 year lease with the new owner, rent the building back. This then in turn frees up capitol to invest back into the business. All legal and above board. Title: Re: Coming soon ? The building looked impressive then. It would be a shame to get rid of it completely. Like you say, best of both. Paul Jr was still there when I visited. Many of the bikes they had made for the shows were exhibited in there. I wonder if they are all still there or whether Paul Jr took some of them for his business as design exhibits. Not too sure about the return of the show. I got fed up of the bickering. Let's hope they concentrate more on the design and build which is interesting enough without all the playing to camera. My favourite was Rick Petko who did most of the work (I did manage to spy him through a glass partition which enabled visitors to see what was going on in the workshop) and he has his own company now called RPD & Co which is based in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and does custom metal fabrication and welding. Vinnie DiMartino (who did the rest of the work) has his own service station and servicing center. He also has DiMartino Motorsports which deals with customising vehicles. I think it's not far from Paul Jr's place. It'll be interesting to see if they make any guest appearances. Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: paulywombats on October 30, 2017, 10:51:35 AM Jay Jay, I thought Rick was the most talented amongst them.
As you say always seemed to be doing more than anyone. I think once Junior had set up his own thing, he produced some better machines. It's probably an American thing, but never liked the themed bikes. Too Micky Mouse for my liking. Each to their own I suppose. Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: stinkey on October 30, 2017, 06:10:48 PM Rick and vinnie..know their stuff
Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: Olds on October 31, 2017, 03:59:40 AM Was never a fan of the program. I tended to record then fast forward through most of it. Some interesting bikes, that I felt were usually ruined, by going a bit (or a lot) OTT. Restraint and good taste don't seem to be American traits.
Title: Re: Coming soon ? Post by: stinkey on October 31, 2017, 08:57:10 AM He,he..I know what you mean and guilty of the same crime..but I've seen plenty of BAD taste here too? ::)
