Great weather meant a great first night, still struggling with this camera, time for a new one maybe.

That's all, I wandered back to the city and watched the cycling on the massive big screen. Will return tonight ;) ;)

Firework photos are difficult. I have never heard of it. How is it a championship? Do different individuals/groups create a display and then get judged?

Lots of fireworks this neck of the woods at the moment. Bournemouth every Friday and Poole every Thursday plus there were loads of fireworks to end Cowes Week. They start at 10pm usually and when I hear the bangs, because the noise really travels, I think forgotten it again. I do like firework displays, as long as they don't go on too long like the London New Year ones.

This has been the best one yet, 10 years now, and all free. Someone must pay somewhere. Hope the City can keep this championship. I believe its up for renewal or whatever they do.

a little behind the scenes. I was not allowed to enter, in fact they were pretty hostile :o

no wonder they go bang, bit bigger then your average sparkler. You can see how far away the Hoe is from the display area, which is Mount Batten pier. That is what attracts the competitors. the safety area of the water between.

A local guy has a small business making the frames those "mortars" slot into. Amazing how many little niche businesses there are.

That'd be a great way to view them. Impressive photos -fireworks just come out as a blur whenever I try.

That is why I binned some of mine, shaky! Saying that, its great to have all this digital stuff, just bin it and reuse. Saves a fortune on developing to find out you had the DT's  ;D ;D
I now use a tripod and a small release cable, stops you touching the camera, too often. Some times it works, many times it don't. Grand daughter is getting really good and passes on the odd tip.
