Title: Little B*stard Post by: Manky Monkey on August 08, 2016, 02:23:31 PM Spotted in Wareham, Dorset yesterday. Replica of James Dean's Porsche Spyder, know as Little Bastard. It's the car he crashed & died in, in 1955.

Title: Re: Little B*stard Post by: kapri on August 08, 2016, 09:05:07 PM There was one around at least 20 years back, even had the broken front sidelight , a well observed touch. Little known fact that the Barris Brothers actually did some work on JDs car.
Title: Re: Little B*stard Post by: Manky Monkey on August 08, 2016, 09:20:21 PM This one had the steering wheel on the wrong side, but otherwise looked pretty good. I was visiting Wareham with family, who just thought it was a nice little sports car with a rude name. :)

Title: Re: Little B*stard Post by: Manky Monkey on August 08, 2016, 09:29:27 PM Just an h'optical h'illusion cos the dash curves round at each end I think.
Title: Re: Little B*stard Post by: JayJay on August 08, 2016, 11:03:55 PM The crash picture's weird with that person down by their feet. I didn't notice him straight away (small pic on my smartphone). Strange angle. Perhaps it's just someone lying down looking under the car. Perhaps it is Rolf Wütherich as the report says he was thrown from the car onto the shoulder of the road but it still looks weird. ??? If it is him, they don't seem to be giving him much help! When you look at the vehicle, you wouldn't think anyone could have survived. Dean's injuries were so bad his casket was kept closed at his funeral.
P.S. Just read that someone thought it was James Dean but as he had a broken neck I can't see how it could be. |
