Post by: the coppersmith on December 12, 2015, 03:52:31 PM
Just filled the daily up at 99p. per litre. Will it get cheaper or should I stockpile some  ??? or, does it go off, stale like?

I think it's got a shelf life of just a few weeks now hasn't it? Still about £1.05 down here in Hampshire.

Whereabouts is that Kev as it is dearer our end still?

I have just come from the local Tesco and it's 99p for petrol but 104p for diesel.   >:(

As lots have people have said, why is diesel now more expensive than petrol? A few years ago it was the other way around. Diesel's a by product of petrol so ought to be cheaper -couldn't possibly be because they sell more of it so can make more profit on it could it?!

Portsmouth Truck stop . It has a standalone LPG pump down near the 50s cafe. Credit or debit card only, all self service.

Uhm, I remember those days. Filling the Greeves up with two stroke for less then a quid. Remember those two stroke pumps? I can recall at a budget they added so much tax and a canny old guy in the workshop said " you'll pay a pound a gallon one day !"  "never" was the reply. Oh I wish

Pool Petrol. Just a thought, is there anyone on the forum, who held a full licence before 1953. Come on own up. ;D  ;D

Pool or pooled fuels appeared at the start of WW2 when all producers had to literally pool their stocks so that control of distribution was governed.
As there was no branding, there was little incentive to produce good fuel. This together with shortages of materials, and the drive to produce quantity, meant that quality suffered.
Pool petrol was all that was available until 1953 and nearly came back in the 70s due to the oil crisis.

Well that's what I've been told.
