Looks like we've got to that time of year when monkeys decide it's too damned cold to venture into the garage. :(
Spent an hour out in mine this morning and my hands went a pecuiliar purple/blue colour. Jeez, those spanners are cold first thing. I really must dig out my workshop gloves and woolly hat.
I tried suggesting that a wood burner in the corner of the garage or extending the central heating into there would be a good idea, increase the value of the house etc, but the missus was having none of that. So I am back to smuggling in some fan heaters. ;)

yeh i agree,my garage might as well be 5 miles away instead of 5 steps away,might venture in if i get a little winter project,i could do with someone going in and put the heater on an hour before i go in. ;D

Yeah, I've been finding my thermals and the heavy weight overalls, trouble is it also slows you down and makes wriggling into some space awkward and painful when you slip and knock your fingers etc. I have fingerless gloves that help a lot and modern thermal stuff keeps the clothes a bit lighter, but its still a struggle. Then when your all dressed up and cosy, you normally need to use the loo ! so off it all comes again :D

ive just come in from my shop its freezing out there  >:( I  smacked my hand on a shelf as I walked by it the pain was incredible   :'( for a light smack :( the language was choice that warmed the air up  ;D ;D

I used to fill my BBQ up with charcoal, light it outside and place a layer of fire bricks over the top of the coals (out of an old storage heater)  When the flames had died out , move it inside near to where your working and it makes a lovely heater, down side is the workshop has a nice bbq smell that makes you feel hungry all day ;D

Are we all going soft or what? Surely not cold enough to need heating yet?
When it is, i have a cenrtral heating boiler, conected to the house oli tank, with a car radiator and fan blowing into the shop. I used it twice last year if i recall. I also made a woodburner out of an old car lpg tank, set upright with a stainless chimney for the next door garage - i still havent sorted the chimney and tried it out, i guess the need will increase if it gets really cold.
A body warmer and wolly hat makes a world of difference i've found :)

Think I get that SAD syndrome, I venture out to the workshop, give it a jolly good "lookin'at" then retreat to my arm chair to consider my options! ;D ;D ;D, and, having people who are standing upside down reminding me how warm it is there is definitely not helping! ??? ??? ??? ???........Morrag

I should have done exactly that ! Instead I decided to tidy up out there and promptly tripped over the mig, knackering a knee. Now the armchair is likely to be the best option for at least a couple of days. :(

One problem i do suffer from, now you mention wet poprodder, is moisture. I have to run a dehumidifier from Nov on, otherwise my machines and anything else i leave out gets covered in condensation. I've insulated the roof, since corrugated asbestos is a poor insulator,especially if wet. Also i live on a hill, and wet foggy and windy weather is the norm most of the winter.

Only one answer to that, move in with Chewie :D
