We'll be there so you will have to come up and say hello if you go. Just look for the big bushy beard and a white dog. That of course is Rick with Alfie and not me! ::) Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: 1130cc on October 18, 2015, 08:28:04 AM Having fallen while cleaning the shed roof, and giving myself the mother of all dead legs, if I get down there I will be the one with grey hair and goatee, and trying not to use my right leg.
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: terry t on October 18, 2015, 08:49:01 AM Allow plenty of time to order your food. best just have a salad as it may be cold anyway ??? looks like it going to be a nice day for it
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: 1130cc on October 18, 2015, 09:25:53 AM Yep, the skies are just clearing over Cowplain/Waterlooville and it looks good South of me.
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: JayJay on October 18, 2015, 04:30:12 PM Terry, we were there for 9am! At 10am, when they started serving, we were the first in for a cooked breakfast. Very nice, good value and HOT.
1130cc, did you go? I looked for you but when I asked someone who fit your description if they were on Manky Monkey. He said yes but it turned out he only heard Monkey. Turned out he had a company called (I think) Mental Monkey Paintwork! Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: 1130cc on October 18, 2015, 05:39:22 PM Sorry, didn't go in the end.
Trying to rest my leg for Tuesday. I did practice using the brake, on the trike, and all should be ok. Tis a bit of an issue when you have an auto V8 and only a brake pedal, and that leg can not tense. :) Gonna work from home tommoz too. Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: Chevy Rick on October 18, 2015, 08:53:39 PM With a nice early start the weather looked great and sure enough it was all day. Great turnout of cars, didn't manage to take pictures of all the cars as there seemed to be a lot of coming and going and jockeying for parking spaces.

Thanks.
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: stinkey on October 19, 2015, 08:37:32 AM I love seeing such a variety of cars etc..but the one thing iv noticed in all the years of being involved in this scene ..you never see any of these cars out on the road ? Where are they all ?
Just yesterday I spoke to a good buddy of mine..and he told me he had got fed up of going to static shows and people (idiots ?) coming up to him and saying..." That's not original, you haven't got the correct gudgeon pin washers ? ". He run a big block 69 camaro..so he went out for a drive and spent the complete day visiting mates and going shopping etc in the car..best day he's had in years ? Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: Manky Monkey on October 19, 2015, 09:01:13 AM We've been discussing that at Loon's workshop recently. I've always liked hotrods & now I've built one, but I'm not a huge car guy -I just like mine & like driving it. I'd be quite happy cruising round the M25 for a day. Static shows are fine but get kinda boring after a while. I'd much rather do a driving event.
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: 1130cc on October 19, 2015, 10:37:18 AM Same for me with bikes/trikes.
I am more of a ride for 2 hours and drink coffee for 20 minutes, rather than the other way around. Also, it is nice that "Joe Public" are interested in the trike, but I tend to hide, wait for it to be clear and then make a dash and run for it. Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: JayJay on October 19, 2015, 11:14:24 AM I love seeing such a variety of cars etc..but the one thing iv noticed in all the years of being involved in this scene ..you never see any of these cars out on the road ? Where are they all ? ... I have always said that especially after going to Wheels Days (Aldershot). Such a massive turnout then they just seem to disappear. I do see more classics on the road around by me now but I think that is because more people have cottoned on that you can run a classic very cheaply. Low insurance, no tax and usually quite easy to work on without an specialist tools needed. That makes a nice little runaround. Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: stinkey on October 19, 2015, 11:18:52 AM Yes agree with JJ ..my 15 year old stepson wants an old classic car....MK 1/2 escort..dream on..or a VW golf ?
Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: Mendalot on October 21, 2015, 10:56:01 AM Due to the wonderful picture montages that Rick & JJ (and others) put up here for us, we don't need to go to the shows, just grab a cup of coffee along with some Jaffa Cakes and have a peruse from the comfort of home ;D ;D ;D ;D
When I saw the picture of the Black Pop with the Woolfies, I thought it was my mates, but when I got the picture of his one up on my phone, he has chrome wheels, but the rest looks virtually identical ::) Thanks guys for taking the time to share. Paul. Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: stinkey on October 22, 2015, 07:27:18 PM What's the number plate on your mates pop ? My cousin had one similar

That's not original, you haven't got the correct gudgeon pin washers ? ". Seen that happen - really nice bloke, into early jap bikes and all sorts of other stuff - our bike club had a stand at a car show and we were watching a beuatifully restored car arrive - it was a Spridget or something of that order, and he said "Pity it's the wrong colour - they never did that model in yellow" Same bloke changed the exhaust on his 400/4 before taking it on the run because he 'didn't want to blue the new exhaust'. ??? ::) Title: Re: American Car Show Post by: JayJay on October 23, 2015, 04:29:11 PM Due to the wonderful picture montages that Rick & JJ (and others) put up here for us, we don't need to go to the shows ... ... Thanks guys for taking the time to share. Paul. That's okay Paul. I do work very hard at getting the right shot. Of course Rick is helpful too, holding the camera bag, telling the plonker who walked in front of me to #*/@$?! move but as you most probably know, that is the price you pay for excellence. I do appreciate the recognition though. ::) JJ ;D |
