Title: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 06, 2015, 09:23:16 AM I received an email from Mark's wife this morning:
I don't know if this is the Manky Monkey Motors that my husband Mark Juggins is able to leave messages to. If it is I have to let you know that sadly in the early hours of yesterday morning, he passed away. I am his wife Teresa and I wanted to let you all know xxx Terrible & completely unexpected news. I knew he was ill, but not that ill, or even what the problem was. I delivered a T shirt to his house in HedgeEnd near Southampton a year or so ago & he brought his CX500 trike along to our pitch at the Basingstoke Transport Festival. An enthusiastic forum member & a genuinely nice guy -which, I guess, is the best epitaph any of us can hope for. I've sent our condolences & asked for details of the funeral -maybe we could send a wreath? I'm on holiday at the moment, so may attend if it's appropriate. A real shame. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: kapri on October 06, 2015, 10:18:08 AM Always sad news when we lose 'one of our own' :( My thoughts are with family and friends .

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Mendalot on October 06, 2015, 10:47:45 AM Sad news indeed, RIP Mark. What a nice gesture from his wife, especially during this time of grieving, to take the time to let us all know. A wreath would be good Andy, please let us know how to donate.

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 06, 2015, 12:34:06 PM Sad to hear that news, a wreath sounds like a good idea.
I see he posted back in July about having to take Oramorph for pain from an illness. No more pain now. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 06, 2015, 12:36:07 PM I've sent a condolence card from us all & asked for details to send a wreath.

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 06, 2015, 05:24:40 PM It is a shock. I knew Mark was ill but I didn't realise he could go just like that. My heart goes out to his family who I am sure have been living with this knowledge for a while.
Mark was a lovely chap and like Twisted said, many of us got to meet him at Monkey World last December and at Basingstoke this year. At Monkey World he brought along his wife, his daughter and his granddaughter and they really enjoyed the day even though it was December! Mark was fairly new to MMM then and it gave him a chance to put faces to a few names. One way to honour Mark might be donating to the GIST support group which I believe the Juggins family are part of. As this cancer is rare they need as much help as possible for research and to support those who are in the club! Perhaps Andy you could suggest this to Teresa. I would also like to attend his service if I am able and if Teresa is happy for any of us to do so. As Mendalot says, it was nice of Teresa to let us know when she and their family are dealing with their own grief. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 06, 2015, 06:41:20 PM A reply from Mrs Markju:
Hi Andy Thank you for your lovely reply. Mark had a rare type of cancer called GIST. It was in his stomach and it spread. I remember you bringing the T-shirt over -he put it on as soon as he could. Yes, he did go to your stand at Basingstoke transport and he had fun. He liked the forum and was enthusiastic too. Thank you for saying he was liked by everyone I met a few members this year with Mark and they were all very lovely. I agree he was a nice guy. I really don't know what to say I will be very happy to let you know when his funeral arrangements are. Thank you Andy And thank you for reading this as I didn't know if anyone could or would reply and I'm glad you did. Thank you again Teresa Juggins x Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 06, 2015, 06:56:16 PM I hope you'll suggest that she read this thread - I'm sure she'd be pleased.

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: 1130cc on October 10, 2015, 10:09:43 PM I was speaking with Teresa this afternoon.
Sorry, if I had read the recent threads earlier I would have asked about the undertakers. I will be there on my trike, so long as it is not torrential rain (my electrics are not waterproof). We will be speaking again nearer the time, with a view to getting a few trikes in the funeral cortège. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 11, 2015, 10:50:36 AM Looks like there'll be half a dozen from the forum there, which is great.
Jay Jay's spoken to Mark's daughter & is organising flowers from us, so should let us know here when she has. Obviously not the best way to meet up, but will be nice to see anyone who can come along. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 11, 2015, 04:21:38 PM I won't come because the trike's off the road and anyway I never met him, but I'd be happy to chip in for the flowers.
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 11, 2015, 07:57:06 PM Jay Jay's spoken to Mark's daughter & is organising flowers from us, so should let us know here when she has. I have the undertaker's details and I will let you know about the flowers. I will go and see the florist on Tuesday. Mark would have been pleased to know such a motley crew (or Mötley Crüe for the rockers on here 8)) would turn up! Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: goose on October 12, 2015, 09:35:59 AM i would love to go but working in liverpool stops me , would like to donate towards flowers if possible ..
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: 1130cc on October 12, 2015, 11:37:54 AM I just realised.
It was Mark that finally got me to sign up with Manky Motors, and my only posts have been in this thread. I must try harder :) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 12, 2015, 07:09:16 PM He'd be pleased to know you're posting. :)

No worries Spanners, as we will tell his family that others, like yourself and Goose, would have liked to pay their respects but just lived too far away. Think of us, especially Andy, as MMM's representatives. JJ Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 13, 2015, 06:01:22 PM Thanks for the letter in the Post today Mr Spanners -I'll pass your donation on to Jay Jay. Very kind of you.
Also a very nice idea -Mike suggests we name the MMMotors trophy we give out each year at The Basingstoke Transport Festival, the Mark Juggins, or Markju, Memorial Trophy. Sounds good to me -any thoughts? For those new to MMMotors, we have a bit of a forum get-together at my local vehicle show every May & knock up a trophy of some sort, then decide on the day who to give it to, usually someone who's displayed enthusiasm, support & enjoyment of the vehicle scene in general & our little group in particular -I think putting Mark's name to that would be entirely appropriate, don't you? Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: merv on October 13, 2015, 06:14:56 PM I think that's an excellent idea
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: 1130cc on October 13, 2015, 06:37:17 PM I think it would be an excellent idea.
Mark was an inspiration. Anyone who knew his life expectancy yet still went out and got a new bike project has to be an inspiration. As an aside, whilst new to this forum, I am admin/maintainer of the TrikeDoctor forums. It is via there that I met Mark, where he was also a great contributor. Mark sold and dispatched the tickets for our annual forum get together this year. He even managed to get up for some time on the Saturday, but could not stay over. A very good effort when you consider it is held near Birmingham. I will miss our texts. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 13, 2015, 07:14:19 PM Definitely a good idea - as Markju preferable, since that's who he was on the forum.
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: hunter on October 13, 2015, 07:56:05 PM Yes great idea.
I also would like to donate towards the flowers, I would like to send it via paypay if i may. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 13, 2015, 09:17:40 PM I didn't know Mark beyond this forum -didn't realise he was so heavily involved in the trike scene.
Donations direct to Jay Jay, rather than me, as she's volunteered to arrange it, (she rang me this morning to confirm). I'm sure she'll be along soon with the details. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: poprodder on October 13, 2015, 09:38:01 PM Thanks for the letter in the Post today Mr Spanners -I'll pass your donation on to Jay Jay. Very kind of you. As Bobbi suggested, Markju is probably more appropriate as, for most of us, that is how we have known him.
I have arranged for the flowers and will try and put a pic online before the funeral as I am picking them up on the 19th. They will incorporate a message and the MMM logo, which I took in to the florist today as well. The flowers are not going to be too over the top because, as 1130cc has just mentioned, Mark had many interests in his life, of which we were a small part. I am hoping you will like them though. Nobody has ever given me money via PayPal but I think you just send it to my PayPal email. I don't really want to put that email for anyone to see, as in guests, but if you want to donate something then PM me and I will send it to you. Or if you want to post a donation, I will give you my address. Whichever is easiest. Please don't feel under any pressure to donate. Some of you didn't know Mark and even if you did, money is tight. I won't be listing names as those who have donated know who they are. :) If we have money over are you all happy for MMM to make a donation to GIST Support UK, which is a charity that supports those who are ill, like Mark, with GastroIntestinal Stromal Tumours. As this form of cancer is rare, those who have it don't always know where to get help, guidance or support. It is also there for their families especially those who are carers. I think you will all say yes but if anyone has any objections then let me know in this thread or PM me. JJ Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 14, 2015, 05:47:29 PM A message from Mark's family:
Mark loved buying his trike He loved riding to different places too -he'd come home, get his jacket and helmet on then off he went. Mark did so many different things, like buying and doing up a sailing boat and sailing it & building a kit car which he never finished 😊 He was a bee keeper for a while too & so much more -but I know that the trike was his favourite thing. We'd love the trikes to be behind the funeral cars from our house if that's O.K, with cars at the crematorium, then following to the wake. Thank you so much, in advance for the flowers. It's lovely that your membership want to contribute to them. Also wonderful to think of a trophy in his name. That's so very kind of you all & made me cry, but happy tears. Thank you. Teresa. Mark's funeral is on 20th October at 1.45pm at: Wessex Vale Crematorium Bubb Lane West End Southampton SO30 2HL There's a wake afterwards at: Ageas Bowl Bodley Road Southampton SO30 3XH Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: terry t on October 14, 2015, 06:20:15 PM A message from Mark's family: Mark loved buying his trike He loved riding to different places too -he'd come home, get his jacket and helmet on then off he went. I believe PayPal gives you a receipt when you send money so hopefully everybody who has used PP knows it has arrived. I have PM'd JJ and left a phone message for Teresa. No replies yet. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 19, 2015, 04:44:23 PM Sorry, I only just saw your PM. I haven't got involved in the trike side so I am afraid I don't know. If you don't find out, let me know and I can text his Daughter Amy but obviously we don't want loads of us asking.
JJ :) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 19, 2015, 04:47:49 PM The funeral's at 1.45, so I'll aim to be at the crematorium by 1.30 latest.
I'd guess if you're going to the house you'd need to be there by 1 ish, but I've no idea how far from the crematorium it is. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: terry t on October 19, 2015, 04:51:00 PM Does anyone have the time to be at the house with trikes? I have PM'd JJ and left a phone message for Teresa. No replies yet. Sean it about 4 mile from the house to the crematorium so about 20min drive 1.45 funeral meet up at 1pm near by or meet at loomies and ride in for 10 pass 1 ? Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 19, 2015, 05:01:10 PM Hi Folks,
I have picked up the flowers today and hopefully I won't wreck them between now and tomorrow when I take them to the undertakers. The florist boxed them up for me and she said it would be alright to leave them in the car overnight. Anyway, you have been very generous and even after the flowers, there should be enough for a nice donation to GIST Support UK. I will give you the exact figures when they are all in as some are in the post. I know, I have heard that before ::) but this time I have no doubts! :) Here is a piccy, not the best so that is me and not the florist! If you are disappointed with the flowers just don't tell me and I will say sorry upfront. I think they look nice though. As you look at the picture they are roughly 2 foot wide and 16 inches high and about 3 inches deep. The shorter bit in the middle makes them more subtle and I think more appropriate to be given by friends and rather than list a load of names, I thought the Manky logo spoke for us all. I was going to aim for 13:00 if there was no definite time. Alex and Alistair are meeting at my place, as they are coming down a bit earlier. Depending on timing, we will either go Portsdown/Wickam, or will hammer it down the M27. Are we just meeting at the house? You are welcome to meet at mine. I am very near J&S. I'll PM you my addy. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: 1130cc on October 19, 2015, 05:55:08 PM Just spoken to Teresa.
The intention is to leave the house at 13:20. We are welcome to arrive at any time. I have said I will aim to be there for 13:00. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 19, 2015, 05:56:28 PM The flowers are lovely JJ, well done - my cheque is one that's in the post!

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 19, 2015, 10:38:47 PM Thanks all.
I was just worried you lads (I know Biker Gran wouldn't have) might have been expecting a trike tribute! No, only joking, I know you wouldn't have really because you know that with dealing with the DVSA and the DVLA, it would never have been ready in time. ::) I'll see those of you who are going to Mark's funeral tomorrow at the crematorium and for those who can't make it, I will be sure to pass on your apologies and condolences. JJ :) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: spanners on October 20, 2015, 12:58:39 AM it feels to be a wrong question to ask ,,,,but,,, please let us that cant be there how it all go,,s on ,,thanks ,,

Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 20, 2015, 06:44:23 PM Well that went pretty well I think.
A very nice service -"humanist" so non religeous. Lots of anecdotes about Mark's life & interests -remembered with smiles instead of tears. Nice modern crematorium in very pleasant grounds just outside Hedge End, near Southampton. I had a quick count up & made it 108 family & friends, with standing room only at the back of the chapel for the last dozen or so -obviously a much loved guy. Lots of flowers, including our own. 4 forum members in attendance -Jay Jay, Terry T, 1130, with 2 mates from other trike forums & me. 3 trikes following the hearse. The service ended with Knockin' on Heaven's door before we adjourned to the function room of the Ageas Bowl, formerly the Rose Bowl, cricket ground to raise a glass in memory of the man. Looking at the montage of family photos on display there, I realised he must've already been quite ill when we first knew him here. He was a lovely guy though & for the short time we knew him, it was a pleasure. S'long mate. Thank you to everyone who contributed to his flowers -they were much appreciated. Well done guys. I'm proud of you. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: terry t on October 20, 2015, 06:57:17 PM Thanks Andy :(
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: 1130cc on October 20, 2015, 07:46:48 PM Twas great to meet Andy, Jay Jay and Terry.
The beautiful thing about the day, for me was the smiles. Whilst there may have been a waft of strong onion in my eye during the service, I came away from today with some happy memories. Good bye Mark, you left a lasting memory on many people. (http://easy-it.co.uk/_forum_images/markju.png) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: hunter on October 20, 2015, 11:13:51 PM R.I.P. Mark.
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 21, 2015, 01:20:04 AM Nicely said Andy.
Mark was 55 but I have to say, listening to the stories about him today I think Mark really should have lived to be 110, but because he packed so much into his life, he managed to do everything in half the time! 8) I think I've received all the promised PayPal donations now. Just in case anyone else wants to donate I will leave it until Friday before I add up how much we have to donate to GIST Support UK. Cheers, JJ :) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: merv on October 21, 2015, 07:03:17 PM A nice summing up Andy
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: JayJay on October 23, 2015, 03:39:51 PM Hi All,
You will be pleased to know that after the flowers, which were £60, we have £108 to donate to Mark's charity which is GIST Support UK. This charity acts as a hub of information and support for people with GIST, and their families. If you want to know more, the link is: http://www.gistsupportuk.com/whatisgist.htm (http://www.gistsupportuk.com/whatisgist.htm) I am donating the money through JustGiving as I have an account and hopefully they will claim the Gift Aid which should add on another £27. I had already donated £10 so altogether Manky donations should come to £147.50. 8) https://www.justgiving.com/gistsupportuk (https://www.justgiving.com/gistsupportuk) We often say that the Manky forum is a different beast to other forums on the Internet and I think this demonstrates it. We are a caring lot and wherever possible we look out for each other even though we are from far and wide. Thanks, JJ :) Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: BikerGran on October 23, 2015, 05:22:37 PM Thanks for dealing with the fiddly bits JJ, we appreciate it.
And what you said about the forum is spot on! Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: merv on October 23, 2015, 07:13:57 PM Thanks jj for doing this on our behalf
Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: Manky Monkey on October 23, 2015, 08:26:17 PM Nicest bunch of Monkeys I've ever met.
It sounds wrong to say I enjoyed the funeral, but it was really nice to see so many people remembering Mark so fondly, rather than with gloom & misery. A pretty good epitaph to leave behind you I think. Title: Re: Markju -sad news Post by: spanners on October 23, 2015, 11:36:45 PM it, wasnt a funeral,, it was a goodbye that marked his life ,,
