Title: Led Zeppelin's John Bonham
Post by: Tony oily bike on September 25, 2015, 07:13:54 AM
I know there are some music fans on MMM, and for those into their rock music, the 25th September 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the death of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham.

Their music influenced so many bands and still gets substantial air play on rock stations.

I was lucky enough to have seen Zep at Knebworth back in '79................ what a gig!

That is 'The Boston Strangler' T , also owned by Jeff beck at one stage . I think it's whereabouts was known up to a couple of years ago?

I remember it being on show at TGI Fridays in fareham a few years back, we had the victory wheelers dinner there and it got a few VW stickers placed on it.

I was at the same gig! 35th anniversary -he died in 1980. Knebworth was his last live performance I think.

Yup a few years in the wheelers rose to the heady nights on VP but left just before they lost the Hayling campsite, had some damn fine times with them but as with all things life moves on and family has to take preference, now I don't have the ££ to buy a rod or the health or patience to spend years trying to build another, but did have lots of fun with my T bucket, then Derek Chapmans old Devon Delivery.

And if we aint to far apart maybe cobble together another T bucket just for laughs, doubt it would ever get registered down there.

I would say a lot of the members don't have rods or classics.

Micky Kimber and Tony Dodd are active members in the club again. Do you remember them at all? Micky has put together a massive folder of past events, spanning the club's existence. I think he has kept everything and anything to do with the club. It's very interesting. He has put a lot of hard work into it. You ought to drop by one club night. Chevy Rick still goes.  I am not a member any more but I occasionally pop in with him.

Mickey was one of the real characters in the club  was a scream at rod runs as a short sighted traffic warden or some other dopey looking clipboard carrying mac wearing jobsworth.
Unfortunately by the end of the month I will be sitting on a terrace in the sun down is Malaga so a bit far to come for a club meeting.

Just come to me  he was known as Larry lozenge, funny man.
