Title: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 07, 2015, 03:01:14 PM I had a message from Deadly Derek the diner truck owner this morning, to say he's organising a car show on Good Friday, (the 3rd of April), as an alternative to Wheelsday, which is pre-book only for show cars this year.
He's still finalising the details & sorting out the necessary licences, but it'll be at Barton Stacey, between Basingstoke and Winchester just off the 303, (opposite Popham airfield, 6 miles west of Basingstoke). He says it's a good site, plenty of tarmac & £5 entry per person which includes entry into the raffle. Derek's used to organising events & lays on some cracking parties at his sprawling rural home, so I'm sure he'll have things well in hand. More details as I get them. Title: Re: Hampshire hotrod show 3rd April '15 Post by: Clive on March 09, 2015, 09:56:47 PM Barton Stacey is not near popham Andy, well not really. It's between the A34/A303 junction and Andover.
Title: Re: Hampshire hotrod show 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 09, 2015, 10:01:32 PM O.K, it's 7 miles away, but is almost opposite it on the 303.
Title: Re: Hampshire hotrod show 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on March 09, 2015, 10:35:44 PM Think the show is likely to be on the old army base nearby. "Plenty of tarmac."
Title: Re: Hampshire hotrod show 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 09, 2015, 10:40:37 PM Yeah, I was wondering that.

Title: Re: Hampshire hotrod show 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 12, 2015, 10:27:36 PM Due to problems with getting licences at short notice, now relocated to Popham Airfield ...near Barton Stacey.
Hot Rod Round Up 3 April 08:00 onwards Popham Airfield, SO21 3BD just off the A303, West of Basingstoke, Hants. Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on March 13, 2015, 05:29:58 AM "now relocated to Popham Airfield ...near Barton Stacey." :D

Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 13, 2015, 09:56:04 PM If the Pop was ready I'd definitely take it, but don't think it will be. I'll still be there in the daily though.

Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 15, 2015, 12:41:04 PM Very true, but I'm assuming it's meant to be in competition to Wheelsday?
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 18, 2015, 09:47:22 PM .
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 22, 2015, 05:28:06 PM To be eligible for trophies, show cars need to be in by midday -that gives time for everyone to vote for the 'Peoples Choice'. Show field will close at 2pm as any later than that, you'll have missed half the fun!
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 03, 2015, 03:10:10 PM Well attended for an event that didn't exist a month ago and considering the weather. Took the trike and it was the only one there but was joined later by a few bikes.
There seems to be an umbrella theme to my pics. Well known truck at local events. Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 03, 2015, 03:12:11 PM Patina vehicles are definitely becoming more popular.
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 03, 2015, 03:20:28 PM A few pops attended. Think there were five at one point.
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 03, 2015, 03:21:50 PM One for Lunatic.
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 03, 2015, 04:50:57 PM The COE in your first pic belongs to local guy Calvin.
There's a National Chopper Club event at Popham this weekend too, so a lot of custom bikes on the roads. Baychimp & I went to Wheelsday, then on to this show, via the Jackhammer open day. We arrived in time to grab a quick hotdog as they were packing up & to have a chat with Derek. He was very pleased with the event & says it'll definitely be back next year. Good to see Olds and Neil G Postie Dave and many Victory Wheelers, above are just a few exhibits on show at Popham.
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 04, 2015, 08:39:36 PM Is that the old "Lemon Squash" Zephyr?
Nice photos as always Rick. A wet day all round, which obviously didn't help attendance, but it looks like there were more cars at this event than there were at Wheelsday when we were there. Impressive for something organised by one couple in 3 weeks. Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Archie on April 04, 2015, 08:57:50 PM Had a really good time - real nice vibe and we took home a trophy for best bike.
There were only our two bikes though. Chatted with both Derek and mrs Derek and sounds like there is good stuff coming Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 04, 2015, 09:09:49 PM Congratulations anyway!
-who won? which bike? Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: JayJay on April 04, 2015, 11:20:30 PM Derek and Pat are a great couple and real grafters, and if they say they have good things planned then I am sure they will come to fruition. I have been to a few events at their place and they have always been well organised and fun.
I never made it in the end on Friday because I have my two Grandsons with me and they are not that into car shows anyway, so with the dreary weather as well, I thought better of it. Mind you when Rick told them the youngsters that did go did rather well out of the Easter egg hunt, then their faces soon changed! :'( JJ :D Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 05, 2015, 05:53:41 AM Congratulations anyway! This one. You might recognise the car next to it. also a trophy winner. (pic stolen from R&S)-who won? which bike? Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 05, 2015, 05:58:25 AM A certain blue Galaxie 500 ;D
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 05, 2015, 08:15:20 AM That'll be Archie Senior's bike then.
Mr Baychimp plumped for Wheelsday, but I really wish we'd done Popham instead. Next year. Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Archie on April 05, 2015, 10:08:54 AM That's the one. Hurled huge clumps of mud up
Me back when we hit the 303 and spat a lead off of 4th on the Farnham road. Olds - you get your hat for being first bike / trike? Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 05, 2015, 10:11:41 AM There were hats? Now you tell me.
Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Olds on April 05, 2015, 10:26:04 AM That's the one. Hurled huge clumps of mud up Me back when we hit the 303 and spat a lead off of 4th on the Farnham road. Olds - you get your hat for being first bike / trike? Yes thanks. Title: Re: Hotrod Round Up 3rd April '15 Post by: Baychimp on April 06, 2015, 08:12:32 PM Yes a bad choice by me. If I had realised what had been going on,I would have gone to Popham. So if Derek puts it on next year I will go.
