Title: NSRA Southern swapmeet 1st March '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on January 31, 2015, 08:29:53 PM First big hotrod event of the year, so an ideal time to pick up those hard to find parts or just renew friendships after the Winter hibernation.

Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 1st March '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 01, 2015, 07:24:03 PM Just Chris & me today. A good morning out, with bright sunshine but the bitingly cold wind that Essex Arena's well known for. This truly is the coldest place on Earth, but actually quite nice today if you could find shelter from the wind.
As always, a huge queue to get in the gate, long queues for the food stalls & loos & lots of mud in the pits area -but plenty to see, bargains to be had & mates to say Hi to. Heather & Adey of Buckland Auto, as well as Ian -3 of our fellow travellers to the Dutch rod show Loon & I have attended for the last 2 years. Henry & Christa -who organise the same Dutch show, Calvin, Keith Harman, several of the Surrey Street Rodders & lots of those recognised-faces-but-forgotten-names. Chris & I both walked in the gate saying we were only browsing & didn't need anything, but he managed to come away with a 5" tacho & spare radiator for his Chevy truck while I bought exhaust gaskets & wiper blades for my Pop as well as cutting discs, flap wheels & sanding belts for the workshop. Chris has spent the Winter rebuilding the front wings of his truck, then spotted a perfect pair for 30 quid each on the very last stall we passed. Having put the effort in on his, he decided to leave them there. Maybe not as many stalls as previous years, with the top pits area virtually empty, but the other stall holders seemed to make up for it by bringing more stock along. A good day & a promising start to the new season. Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 1st March '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 01, 2015, 07:25:46 PM .
Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 1st March '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 01, 2015, 07:27:27 PM This Moggy Minor saloon car/pick-up conversion, with Ford Pop grille was here last year. Still can't decide if I like it or not, but certainly imaginative.

Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 1st March '15 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 01, 2015, 07:35:43 PM "Bomber" seats have been really popular for the last couple of years. Based on the lightweight pressed & riveted aluminium bucket seats from WW2 aircraft. Lots of modern reproductions about now, including these. Pricey at 450 quid a pair -I think I'll stick with my 20 quid Austin 7 repros.
