Title: jigsaw puzzle Post by: scannerzer on October 10, 2014, 07:31:13 PM i was going to title this box of
its a 1982 vt500 in need of some serious TLC (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/1B206B50-FC6F-496E-9F32-850324EE649A_zpsh3db0bgb.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/1B206B50-FC6F-496E-9F32-850324EE649A_zpsh3db0bgb.jpg.html) and the rest of it ? well that where the box bit comes in :D (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/F76AD280-C2ED-44CF-8485-520C735800CC_zpspvc1a0lp.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/F76AD280-C2ED-44CF-8485-520C735800CC_zpspvc1a0lp.jpg.html) (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/0F531A1D-B071-466F-8285-E80E7E2C117E_zpsqlkkb0li.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/0F531A1D-B071-466F-8285-E80E7E2C117E_zpsqlkkb0li.jpg.html) (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/E357DDC9-B0EC-42D0-9C5C-CE8A944E3980_zps64uaogia.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/E357DDC9-B0EC-42D0-9C5C-CE8A944E3980_zps64uaogia.jpg.html) (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/5F5F6B70-629D-48FD-9AA9-6C2C812ED5B7_zpsm3z19tv3.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/5F5F6B70-629D-48FD-9AA9-6C2C812ED5B7_zpsm3z19tv3.jpg.html) and the reason for it'd demise (http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/E60481E4-349D-4189-9228-11F675034BE6_zpsk6comisz.jpg) (http://s1056.photobucket.com/user/Eddie096/media/E60481E4-349D-4189-9228-11F675034BE6_zpsk6comisz.jpg.html) it some how lost the timing on the front cylinder, the first revolution broke the head off a valve the next one punched the stem through the top of the piston. the chap i bought it from had been told it was a runner but it wasn't for sure. not sure what the plan for it is but it's shaft drive so maybe a trike but for now if anyone have a front piston and complete head for a vt 500 proping up a table in the shed i'd be glad to here from you ;D Eddie Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: Manky Monkey on October 10, 2014, 07:40:29 PM That's nuthin'. My brother, Brock, recently managed to do this to his brand new drag car engine on it's first run. That's the head of a valve wedged sideways in the exhaust port.
Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: Manky Monkey on October 10, 2014, 07:41:55 PM Didn't do the piston much good in his engine either.
The little VT motor should make a nice trike. Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: scannerzer on October 10, 2014, 07:47:56 PM gees i bet he felt sick after that one ,very nasty and expensive i'd bet
Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: Manky Monkey on October 10, 2014, 07:50:51 PM Yeah, it's best not to do that apparently.
Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: andbolt0 on October 12, 2014, 08:49:01 AM i bought a suzuki bandit in four boxes a few years ago but i think there should of been five

Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: BikerGran on October 12, 2014, 08:57:43 PM When I was rebuilding the Superdream my family bought me as a project I was asked if I'd be interested in buying one that someone had stripped - I jumped at the chance till I foound that meant STRIPPED right down to the last nut and bolt, cog, spring, bearing.....
It was stored in a couple of filing cabinets so I bought them as well! Turned out I had about a bike and a half! Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: scannerzer on October 12, 2014, 09:00:02 PM bet you paniced when you'd bit left over

Title: Re: jigsaw puzzle Post by: scannerzer on May 15, 2015, 06:00:42 AM yep Morrag thats the case here but hope to get a second hand engine
