Go Big or Go Home is the mantra for this year’s BSMC III Exhibition Event 2014. After enjoying the hospitality of the wonderful Shoreditch Studios venue and team we realised that our third event just wasn’t going to fit the space, so we’ve spent several months looking for a bigger place with as much character, somewhere that would allow us to keep the easy-going, hang-out-all-day, non trade-show vibe.

Yup, a great day out. The coolest, most laid back bike show I've ever been to. More like an art exhibition than a traditional greasy bike show, but full of the coolest, stylish people & beautiful bikes. Being in the very heart of London city, there were those who obviously had a lot of money to burn, but they were rubbing shoulders with guys who had nothing more than heaps of talent & a passion to create. Most of the bikes on show wouldn't cost a lot to build, but had beautifully hand crafted parts & some really clever, out-of-the-box ideas. Lots of BMW boxer twin & Guzzi café racers, which seem to be very "in" at the moment, plus old Brit bobbers & quite a few 70s Jap trailies, (loved the little CG125 with the surfboard carrying frame on the side. Also a moped with the same set up), even a custom bicycle club.
I'm really getting into the new "gentleman motorcyclist" scene. A kind of cross-over between hotrods & bikes, with the emphasis on style & quality. No attitude or aggressive posing, just a shared interest in craftsmanship & riding just because you enjoy it. As Janie said, Tobacco Dock's a fabulous setting for such a show. Literally 2 streets away from the Tower of London. It was designed as an upmarket shopping complex, but is just being used as an exhibition space at the moment. 2 Thames barges in dry dock, a sunny terrace to sit out on & 3 or 4 floors of spacious, timber & glass show rooms. You could buy a Mexican beer at the bar, then select a cigar from the Cuban cigar seller & sit back in the many big comfy leather sofas & watch the World go by. Perfect.
Bet you'd like to see the photos wouldn't you. Yeah, so would I. Unfortunately my camera died as Janie was trying to grab shots of Big Ben as we drove past, so not a single piccie I'm afraid, (anyone any good at fixing digital Nikons?). I'll try & find some on the 'net.
As we pulled in, the guy directing traffic said I know you -which is always slightly disconcerting. No idea who he was. Just one fuzzy snap of us outside from one of Janie's rocker mates. A good day.

I've been thinking of selling my XS650 recently, but this show has reignited my love for it -I'll definitely be back -on the bike- next year.

So you got your camera back then  :D
Have you tried pulling the SD card and loading the pics direct from that ? Or did it die on the way there?

It died on the way to the show, 'coz I was using it, so there's no telling what's wrong with it!!!  :'(

Maybe just the battery,I have just replaced the one in mine.
If it's lithiam they are often the same battery that's in a mobil phone.

I always take the memory card out of the camera & slot it into the card reader in my laptop to download.
Got 3 Nikon lithium batteries & tried them all.
It's showing a message on the screen on the back of the camera-

Error. Press shutter release button again.

It's a Nikon D60, (digital SLR). When I had a little bit of spending money a few years ago, I bought a pair of them, one for Tanya my girlfriend at the time, & one for me.
After a few years of use, mine started showing the same error message & the local camera shop told me the shutter button was worn out & would cost more than the camera was worth to replace. So when Tanya & I split up, I took on hers. Now it's doing the same. I'm wondering if there's a simple fix. Hope so cos I can't afford another camera now, but use it all the time, (can't take any update photos of my truck build now & missed out on some great shots at the show yesterday, as well as sight seeing pics around London).
I'd like to buy a compact digital camera cos the Nikon's a pain to carry around everywhere -like lugging a housebrick around with you all day -& the newer ones probably give just as good results from something that'd fit in a pocket.
Anyone know how to fix Nikons?
