BUMP....
Tony oily bike and Dslam are riding at the Brighton Speed Trials this Saturday 6th Sept.
If you are coming down then feel free to come up and say hello.
I am riding Impulse, a supercharged Hillman Imp engined sidecar outfit and Tony is on a Weslake.
Hope to see you there. ;D

The 2014 Brighton Speed Trials saw a warm dry day with good track conditions for one of the world’s oldest motor sport events, having first run back in 1905.

The event is organised by the Brighton and Hove Motor Club, to whom we owe our thanks (well done all!), and it’s the B&HMC who invite the Sprint Section of the VMCC to organise the bike side of things (big thanks to Juan and his team). Nowadays the event is a single-lane timed 1/4 sprint against the clock.

Dslam and myself along with entourage (you know who you are…..) set off at some unearthly hour on Sat morning in order to propel 2 & 3 wheel specials along the infamous Madiera Drive, interspersed by loads of chin-wag, fry-up, tea, coffee & cakes as we sat out in the September warmth.
Following sign-on and Tech inspection, Dslams’ steed, the supercharged Hillman Imp powered outfit belonging to Paul, started strong but the mechanical gremlins took over. My 2-wheeler, after clearing the cobwebs, improved on times and speed as the day moved on.

A good day, oh yes indeedy!

Meridian ITV news had a small feature. The motorcycle sidecar shown going off the line in Impulse with Dslam at the controls

And for the speed junkies, to speed on the ¼ mike was, I believe over 160mph (but it sure wasn’t from us!!)

Sounds like a fantastic day Tony. I really wanted to go, but unfortunately I have to work on Saturdays, so couldn't.
So is the future of the event any more assured now?
