Title: American spec motorbikes? Post by: kapri on December 31, 2013, 02:57:22 PM Are they restricted at all ? Just that my CX only has an 80mph speedo when the home market one is 110 ?
Title: Re: American spec motorbikes? Post by: Dslam on December 31, 2013, 04:57:00 PM West coast bikes (California mainly) had stringent emission laws from the late 70's and still do. As a result west coast bikes are significantly strangled. The CX was probably one of the early era restricted bikes. Soft cams, Small bore carbs and small bore ports and valves, retarded ignition and soft advance curve are a few of the tricks used to make the bikes compliant. I saw a GSX1100 Kat with cotton reel spacers above the carb slides. Crude but effective.
