Title: Towing on a dolly
Post by: andyrennison on October 25, 2013, 11:00:47 AM
Hi All. I have been musing the issue of towing my trike. I have seen various ideas for dollies etc, and I'm ok with that aspect now. What I am wondering is about the electrics and lighting when on tow. Is it legal to hook into the existing electrics on the Trike, so the trike rear lights are in use?

If so, would I need to fit triangular reflectors and the towing vehicle plate while towing ?

Should be OK but I think you may just be adding complications to the trike wiring.

Yes, maybe, I suppose the other option is a towing board

This is to tow the trike behind my car Steve, not use the trike to tow :)

Think you would need the reflectors etc, depending on overall length.  You need brake lights as well and I don't see how you'd use the trike lighting for that.  Why not just use a board, makes life much simpler?  Also makes it quite clear to traffic behind that you're towing.
