Started to make up forward controls today, needed to come up with an idea to suit Chrissie's short legs and my long legs. Think this will work, with flexible/ braided hoses, only 4 x M10 bolts to move both clutch & brake pedals with master cylinders attached.

LONG LEG POSITION:-

Finished tacking up the main chassis design, just need to fully weld it now

That's clever Pete. Will you need some way of clipping the flexi hoses in both positions? (a cable tie I suppose).

Could you put a pivot in the middle Pete, so that it just arcs from one position to the other. If so you may be able to have some form of peg and spring pin to hold it, to make switching positions a no tool process????

Title: Re: And again ! :)
Post by: trikerpete on November 13, 2013, 09:23:36 PM
Andy, I did think along those lines at one time but opted for the "bolt on" design. Its only 2 x M10 bolts on each pedal/footpeg assembly, so no major problem. Good to see your paying attention ;) :D

thanks for comments  :) ive taken the curved tube one more step by adding a slightly smaller diameter "second" curved tube which looks like a sharks fin where it finishes under the seat, this in turn may be filled in with a "pierced" sheet of metal. will sort out photo soon ::)

Hello everyone
Not really done anything in workshop since New Year due to unforeseen circumstances :o
9th January I had a "pre-assessment" at Hospital, prior to having some fluid sucked out of my hip, only to end up in A&E then admitted onto the Coronary Care Unit!!! During the pre-assessment it was found that my heart was running fast and double pumping and the nurse panicked a bit. That was a surprise to me as I didnt feel anything was wrong or have any pains etc. Ended up wired to an ECG machine for 5 days and was given several tests/examinations then medication to slow it down, finally came home on 15th and feel ok.

Looking on the bright side, I managed to get out last Friday to get some sheet steel and making a start on battery/electric boxes for this trike build :) Happy New Year ;) :D ;D

Sun came out today and made me feel a little better so managed a couple hours in the workshop...even had the doors open :D
I'm currently re-vamping/re-designing a fueltank I got from Byzmax, (I think its from his XS1100? Trike) chopping out the tunnel/fillers/tap and re-shaping the underside to be flat and allow bigger capacity. When completed the tank will hang underneath the curved top tube of chassis and giving slightly lower centre of gravity....I hope ::)  :)

Hello Folks :)
As most of you are aware, the end of April saw me having an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) put into my left shoulder. This means NO MORE electric welding for me...EVER, so things slowed down in workshop and have to rely on mates calling in to do welding for me. Im not ever allowed near anyone else who is welding, not allowed to use plasma cutter, petrol chainsaw/strimmer etc etc. My basic heartrate is now 30 to 40 beats per minute, nornal rate is about 70, so way too low to function without the ICD. Im still doing bits in workshop as still have a trike to finish, just going to take me longer this time.
Hope each and every one of you are OK.
Take care

Glad you're getting on with things Pete, you cant be that bad if your taking the mick out of me and pictures, only joking, you just keep getting better. Would you mind me asking why you cant electric weld, just so I have a better understanding what has effected you.
All the best from one monkey to another

Merv, pull up a chair  :)
I was admitted to hospital with erratic heartbeat which resulted in me having an ICD (Impantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) put into my chest. The lower chambers of heart were beating out of sync to the top ones. My ICD is both defibrillator & pacemaker combined to keep heart beating at correct rate. Without it my heart rate is only now 35 to 40 beats per minute due to problems while in operating theatre. The first thing they did to me was run a "cable" up through a vein in my thigh into my heart to "zap" some cells to try and rectify the heartbeats, sadly they zapped to many hence my now very low heartbeats. 2nd thing they did was to fit 1 wire into my heart linked to a pacemaker gaffer taped to my right shoulder/chest....that concluded the day after 6.5 hrs in surgery. Rested in bed for couple days then back to theatre for round 2, this entailed have 2 wires screwed into my heart and the ICD put into a small pocket (think, chicken kiev?) in my left shoulder/chest. When that was done they removed the pacemaker from my right side along with the single wire, ripping the sticky tape off hurt the most ;D All this was done while I was awake under local anesthetic, the surgeon hesitated before he cut me open and I asked what his problem was only to be told "Im thinking were I can cut without damaging any of your tattoos!" What a thoughtful man he was :)
They sent me home next day as all was well. Now, the reason I cant use electric welder is because ive not got a shilling for the meter ;) :D ;D ::)

Title: Re: And again ! :)
Post by: trikerpete on September 22, 2014, 07:23:44 PM
;D ;D ;D the real answer is because of the electrical/magnetic field produced. Im not allowed to be in same room as anyone electric welding. Also not to use petrol chainsaws / plasma cutters or go through airport scanners, MRI machines all for same reasons. Have to be very careful working on engines incase I get shock of sparkplugs..Been told not to hang around in supermarket doorways either...but that may be for other reasons ;)
About a month ago my defibrillator "kicked in" and gave me one hell of a belt, I had no warning it was going to happen so that was a shock in its self. I was stood in our kitchen with a plastic bottle in my hand which flew across the room, my shoulder/arm muscles ached for 2 or 3 hours afterwards. The crazy bit about it was that I was due to go to hospital 3 days later to have them check if it was working ok.....that appointment got cancelled ;D

Flipping heck Pete, I suppose it is a small price to pay for your heart to keep ticking, at least you seem to have a very good mate to do your welding for you even if it is a bit inconvenient.
