Title: Engine whine. Post by: Olds on August 01, 2013, 01:12:47 PM OK so it's not a "HotRod" but it is a V8.
A while back, the Jag started to whistle, rising in pitch with engine revs, (sounded like a supercharger) figured it would need a new belt or tensioner. This turned into a whine. Now it's turned into more of a howl. People turn and look :o. Took a sounding tube to rotating components and found the noise was coming from the water pump. Slackened the serpentine belt and sure enough the bearings are shot. It turns freely enough and no leaks but there is a lot of side to side movement. So there goes another wad of cash :'( Title: Re: Engine whine. Post by: poprodder on August 01, 2013, 02:01:31 PM i had the same on my minx, no leak just bearing buggered.

But at only 240hp there's nothing to back it up.Title: Re: Engine whine. Post by: Manky Monkey on August 01, 2013, 09:52:54 PM That's twice what I've got in my truck. Time to build a roadster out of it then Dave!
