I,me in the process of painting my mudguard and tank on my little gs 500,and thinking about doing some pin striping on the tank. The base coat is on the tank,which is a metallic silver. This may seem like a daft question....once the tank has been masked off,and the stripes painted on...how long do I leave the masking tape on ? Do I have to wait until the paint is fully dry, or can I peel it off after a couple of hours once the paint is starting to go a bit tacky ? Thanks.
Title: Re: painting pin stripes Post by: Clive on July 14, 2013, 08:50:31 PM If you peel it off after about ten minutes, you shouldn't end up with a hard edge to it.
If you are using enamel paint for the pinstripe, remember it needs to go on OVER the clearcoat, as it'll pickle otherwise Title: Re: painting pin stripes Post by: hornet6 on July 14, 2013, 09:00:39 PM No,not using enamel paint...just using rattle cans and spraying them on.

When its all dried off,do i have to give it a very light buffing with fine sandpaper before clear coating,,,making sure not to rub the stripes off ?
