Title: welder problem
Post by: scannerzer on July 13, 2013, 06:11:34 PM
As noted in my main thread I've been having welder problems. the power light is on and so is the fan but no
wire feed or contactor so hear goes with some repairs

First checked the the trigger is actually switching down into the welder,it checked as ok,then put 12 into the motor and it worked ok also

please be careful and do not leave any piece of equipment pluged in when inspecting it even if the mains switch is off

pulled the control board and checked the mains transformer.primary no reading, secondary ok so that explains it a shot transformer.there should be a continunity reading on connections to the primary winding  and and the connection to the secondary winding but not between the 2,hope that makes sense

I did think about that,it would have been a good excuse to tell mrs Scanner the reason i bought a bigger welder was because the old one died  ;D ;D
