Title: Exhausted (nearly) Post by: andyrennison on July 10, 2013, 09:50:14 PM Ive don e some work on the exhaust routing today. All has gone well, i do however face one little issue. I am running the front pipe above the frame centrally near the prop shaft. That works well but it crosses and recrosses the frame above the frame. I would like to support it at those points but not transfer the heat onto the frame. Any suggestions?

I used them on my truck but the rear ones have started to split. Mr Kapri told me they shouldn't be used to suspend an exhaust from as I've done, but should sit under the pipe so it's weight is on them, rather than hanging off them. The mounting studs are usually Imperial by the way, not Metric, (had a mate try to force a Metric nut on one a while ago). Even though the motor's solid mounted, there are still vibrations & stresses transmitted to the pipes. I'd be concerned about stress fractures.

I hope so, we are going to make some nice curved tunnel panels with all that leather, and finish the front edge to the frame with stainless mesh. May mock one up this weekend to get the look of it. |
