Helping my father-in-law wire his virago trike this morning all went well other than the indicators
We have a universal 18/23w flasher can the universal mini indicators up front and led rear lights
when we turn on the flashers they come on some times flash once and then stay on and some times just stay on
what do I need to do to to make these work properly ??? ??? ???

Sounds like you don't have enough wattage to operate the indicator relay. I should imagine the can is designed to operate 2x18w to 2x23w
To check just put another 18w bulb in the circuit instead of the led. I use 'electronic' indicator relays that are not wattage dependant. That way you don't need separate relay for the hazard flashers.  It's the only relay fitted to my trike.
If you wish to use the relay you have, then I suppose you will need either suitable resistors, or another bulb into each turn circuit.

I used one with leds, will also power trailer with mixed led / normal bulbed indicators.

 ::) i was having trouble with led indicators on my GS and it had a two pin flasher unit on it so i changed it for a three pin as you get better isolation from the two circuts mine now works peachy hope this helps DB

I believe you can use resisters with the led lights

You can use high wattage resistors with LED lights but they have to be bolred directly to the frame as a heat sink as they get quite hot. Standard indicator flashers are load dependant because they are cheaper to manufacture that way, so yes normally you's have for example 2x21W and a 2w but since LED's run at 30mA you're never going to draw enough watts to get sensible indicator flashing. I am in the process of converting my gs500 to LED, the first thing I bought was a universal LED flasher unit from eBay for about £4 to go with my intergrated LED Rear/Brake/Indicator lamp. I have a circuit designed and I'm hoping to build some LED DRL/Indicator units for the front and rear, these will work in a way that when the light are on the red/white DRL's are on but as soon as the indicators are activated on the left for example the left DRL's go out and switch to Indicator mode, then after the indicators are turned off after a small delay the DRL's come back on. So Red/White Orange Off Orange Off Orange Off Red/White.

not seen yours, but a lot of these fail the mot, as one lamp is interfering with another lamps operation, 

You wouldn't believe what cured it
Wiring the warning light into the circuit cured the problem
Odd stuff electricity

Needed the extra resistance of another bulb in the circuit?
