Title: Angle Grinders,
Post by: Olds on June 09, 2013, 10:56:24 AM
No this is not a safety thing ( well some of it might be). Been using an angle grinder a lot the last few days and here are a few observations.

If cutting or grinding for a long time give the grinder time to cool down every so often. They can and do catch fire. :(
Wear overalls. Do not think it's just a little job. Those new jeans will join the pile of work jeans at the bottom of the wardrobe.  >:(
When outside do not let the sparks/dust fly all over the white upvc window frames. Next day, there will be little rust spots that will never come out. EVER! :P
Also when outside, check that there is no washing on the line. For some reason, your spouse may not appreciate having to redo it all. ::)
Do not wear your wife's Marigold gloves. Not only will she be unhappy and it's a bad fashion statement, but when you pick up that very hot bit of metal, they melt and in effect, glue aforesaid very hot piece of metal to your fingers. >:(

Stay safe (work when the wife's not around) and happy grinding :)
Olds.

Or near glass. I've got to replace the rear window & speedo glass of my truck cos it's pitted with grinding sparks.

At 16 my first car was a knackered mk1 fiesta and after 2 days chopping out rusty wings, inner wings and front panel I found I had a rusty windscreen owing to grinder sparks

I've got a couple of samples. Mr T Bone has taken over printing our mugs for us after our usual merchandise guy got a bit snowed under with work.
If you contact T Bone direct by PM or email, (you should be able to see his email address by clicking on his name in any of the threads he's posted in, or looking him up in the members list -not sure if everyone can view that though or just me as an administrator), he can print them to order for you & post them direct to you.

Got lots.
We've stopped doing the windscreen ones but got plenty of surface mount ones. Instead of selling them in packs of 6, they're now sold individually. Large £1, small 50p.
The postal rates have changed recently so I'm not sure what it costs to send a "do not bend" envelope. Usual practice is to post them, then let you know the total cost. Postage would be less than a quid.
