Title: Rear axle
Post by: klogan45 on May 12, 2013, 01:34:22 PM
Hi guys, yet another question.
I'm looking for an axle and reliant axles are as rare as hens teeth and real pricey too. So I'm looking at a triumph spitfire diff, the ratio is 4.11:1
Here is the question.......
Would this perform adequately on a virago 535 ? I'm not looking for something stoopidly fast, but a nice steady ride.
Any ideas or comments will be gratefully received.
Thanks one and all.
Regards
K

That's a similar ratio to a "Rascal" axle, and you will find it a little low unless large diameter rear wheels are used. The Triumph GT6 axle is around 3:86 If I remember correctly, and would be a better bet if you can get your hands on one, although they are rarer than the Spit./Herald types.......Morrag
