Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: panthershaun on September 20, 2013, 09:43:20 AM well this old beastie has been moved on... sadly I lost interest once I had had a taste of the VHRA event at GOW (Prescott) the sound and sight of pre 49 Yankie based trad hotrods going for broke on the hill climb has entered my soul. so a good mate is going to be building this from now on....
Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: lunatic on September 20, 2013, 10:32:11 AM Well, keep us updated on ol nervous's progress with it, it'll be a nice little thing.
Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: panthershaun on September 20, 2013, 10:33:52 AM I will.. I keep pushing for a vintage racer ;)
Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: lunatic on September 20, 2013, 10:40:06 AM It doesn't need much more than is in the pic! Fuel tank, seats, maybe some little ally sides sweeping down from the cowl. And a proper unusual engine! Nsu would actually be pretty cool in there, dressed up like an Indian 4, ooh or a pair of jap singles joined together!
Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: panthershaun on September 20, 2013, 11:00:58 AM try and get hold of John Bolster's book on Specials ;) it will make you dream bike engined specials.. pre-war of course...

Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: Olds on September 21, 2013, 11:33:04 AM Looking for a suitable rolling chassis (and somewhere to build it).
Yes I know I could make a chassis, (probably the easier route )but I have no idea how you would get a new vehicle like this, through BIVA. Perhaps some more investigation is required. Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: Manky Monkey on September 21, 2013, 01:48:52 PM Come down to Loony's lair next time Mr Kapri's visiting & have a chat with him.

My speciality subject ;)Also have direct access to VOSA tech for tricky questions. Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: Olds on September 21, 2013, 07:34:00 PM Most of it doesn't seem too much of a problem. What I'm really having problems with, seat height/head restraint and three point belts and their upper mountings.
Done a few preliminary sketches but these really ruin the look. Sorry about the thread hijack Shaun :-[ Title: Re: Harvey's hauler Post by: kapri on September 21, 2013, 08:00:03 PM Ways round both of those plus you are allowed to use full harness as well. Start another thread and we can chat .

Thing to remember is that it isn't that much different to aLotus 7 replica in requirements. Side steer is a bit of an issue though I've thought of ways round that should be acceptable. |
