So as not to clutter up Spanners thread but answer questions raised if you follow this link you'll find a totally legal rod built within 8 points system and still retaining Historic status .

That's a lovely looking little thing ain't it, &, as you say, shows what can be done, playing completely by the rules.

Possibly, it's all down to the EU first vote in May ,whether an across EU definition of Historic ( standard only) goes through and then how it is interpreted and actioned by our Government.

Initially it was being put through as a Regulation which means it would pass straight into our law without anything we could do about it. Part of the vote is about it being downgraded to a Directive which can be modified by each State .

Wonder if that might have retrospective implications for existing modified historic vehicles?

Possibly though going to be hard work for them if they declare everything already built within existing rules illegal ! I'd think the simplest way would be for an amnesty where everyone had to declare their mods to be considered 'exempt' and anything registered from then on would havet o be standard.

That would be the simplest ad most straightforward way so who knows what DVLA will come up with!! LOL

Bigger implications will be for the hotrod resale market with most going abroad due to a loophole which this legislation would see closed.
