Title: Kent x flow advice. Post by: The North on March 13, 2013, 01:05:30 PM I am low on crossflows at the moment, i have 2 1300s for the marlins well 1 and 1 to be collected ,will run on 40 dellortos and another partially striped 1300 i need to keep as a spare for them.
Now i still need a 1300 x flow for my rickman, i have a 1100 x flow complete and low miles i could use and fit with a four 2x1 exhaust and a 28/36 dcd webber, but i am not too keen on using this as i cant remember reliably just how powerfull the 1100s were compared to the 1300 in real world use. The Rickman is light at around 750KGS all up with a small crossflow and type 2 box. But remember it has the aerodynamics of a small garden shed. Instinct tells me it will be under powered but it is not a dayly driver as such and ok i need torque to get up steep hills on trials but just how much power do i need to break traction on a 165 x14 tyre on a slippery rutted track anyway. Thoughts fellow monkeys please, i may have to compromise some what to make do with whats available but two heads are better than one so surely we should be set for a few ideas. HELP! 1300 x/flow = DISH ,SMASHED,,,, ::) ::) to be honest a highly tuned 1300 x/flow with out perform a 2litre pinto in an f2 stock car on tarmac oval ,, been there had the T shirt ;) got a x/flow tuning book sat on the kitchen table now,,you could borrow it ,if its of interest to you ,, Title: Re: Kent x flow advice. old newbie, No can run 1600s in class 7 most do that, and insist you need to, But ist a hoby amongst lots of other hobys taxing a q reg kit car will cost me over 200 in a 1600cc or close to half that for a 1300cc, cheaper to insure and 1300s just live longer when screamed to death in my experience. The 1100cc i want to use just because its there and i don't want to buy another engine if i can get away with it, but i do agree with spanners it will probably be gutless, but with a twin choke webber and an exhaust i would have thought it may just have had enough to get the job done in the rickman. Anymore input good or bad ? PS i will be retarding the can 7 degree with offset dowels in all these engines this tweak is well known and it really does improve flexibility and bottom emd power. Post by: The North on March 14, 2013, 09:36:14 AM A good point archie, but i am not too up on what swaps around on the kent and valencea type crossflows, the ka and fiesta lumps have no engine mounts in the casting, and the heads ports are odd compared to the kents too. I am sticking the 1100cc in regardless it will get it running and it can be swaped in a few moments abyway if i just have to get a 1300 put in. Suck it and see mentality, but i must admit i am doubtfull it will deliver.
