Title: slab yokes Post by: Al on February 19, 2013, 07:37:26 PM iv just got a hold of set of z1000 slab yokes that take a fork size of 36mm
iv got a nice gpz900r extended front end im wanting to use with them but the 900r forks are 38mm can yokes be reamed out after the tightening slot has been cut out of them or does the slot make it to springy to cut a new hole size chears al Title: Re: slab yokes Post by: morrag on February 19, 2013, 08:18:44 PM That's a little too much for reaming, but I would put an aluminium make up piece in each slot, bolt up, retaining the "round" 36mm diam.and put the yokes in the lathe and machine to 38mm bore, simples!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)..Morrag

terminology never was my good point wasn't sure if it work thanks Title: Re: slab yokes Post by: hunter on February 19, 2013, 10:09:45 PM As morrag said,But you will have to have a pretty big lathe or it will have to have a gap bed,
The other way would be to use a mill with boring head. Title: Re: slab yokes Post by: morrag on February 19, 2013, 10:30:21 PM My old Harrison, with the gap out and the job swung on its faceplate would probably do it, but Milling availability is far scarcer I fear, which is why I didn't mention it in this instance Hunter, and I know a good number of guys on this site have lathes....Morrag
