Title: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 10:44:18 PM Having been working with me on my hotrod for the last couple of years, the Loon's just got himself a Hot Roderick of his very own -& jolly nice it is too. One of Rover's finest -a 1947 P2, 4 door saloon.
Bought from "Oje", (Owen James), a local rod builder, it's a complete body on it's original chassis. Looks to be in pretty good condition. Lots of potential there. It was sat on a trailer in Newbury, Berkshire about 15 miles from Loony's workshop. Unfortunately the trailer wasn't road worthy, so a Transit pick-up was borrowed & we arrived there this afternoon with enough muscle power to physically lift the whole ensemble into the back. Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 10:50:38 PM A slow drive back to the 'shop, a bit of lifting & shuffling & it was safely sat on a wheeled dolly in the yard. Time for a bit of a think. Mr Loon's already formulating plans. Should make a very cool rod.

Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 10:54:37 PM One of these motors, in there.
Rover V8, the same as Chris has in his Moggy & I have in my Pop. Marcus already has one sat in the 'shop. A Rover in a Rover. Makes sense. Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 10:56:06 PM Mocking things up, using the original Ford Pop wheels.
Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 10:59:36 PM The oldies are so much cooler than the Golfs & Polos n stuff Loony has to work on most of the time.
Lookin' good matey. ;) Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: spanners on February 02, 2013, 10:59:55 PM who,s nicked its bonnet n, bits
Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 02, 2013, 11:02:48 PM He's got the bonnet sides, including the latches, but not the bonnet top or grille. Got a possibility of an original Rover grille shell though. It's also got some of the side windows & all the winders & door latches, plus the handbrake & a few odds & ends.

Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: panthershaun on February 04, 2013, 11:12:09 AM will your Pop dash slot into there Andy?? nice solid base to work from..
Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: Manky Monkey on February 04, 2013, 08:38:38 PM I've never been opulent. :(
The dash hung on the wall in the workshop is actually a bakalite Prefect one I picked up a the Essex swapmeet a couple of years ago. Would bolt straight into the Pop, but probably too narrow for the Rover. Loony plans to use the centre section from it though, (the bit with the instruments in). Title: Re: Lunatic's '47 Rover P2 Post by: panthershaun on February 04, 2013, 09:12:33 PM cool, and where is that list Marcus!!!
