Are frenched lights legal now? Or have the laws now outlawed them.

I assume you mean tunneled. Frenched is yet another term that means different things depending on how old you are and where you live.
As long as the light in question can be seen at the required angles relative to the vehicle then there should be no problems. Things got silly at one point where indicators and tail lights were recessed so far they could only be seen from immediately behind.

Yes thats what i was refering to, thats what we called them back in the mid 70s anyway. so they need to be seen from the side some what do they.

45 degrees, as a rough rule of thumb I believe. If you're building a car for the new BIVA test, you'll also need side repeaters for the indicators.

45 degrees inwards, 80 degrees outwards

Seems we can't even talk old skool anymore!  :D  the original lingo's been 'changed'

I was reading my Custom Car & Hot Rod magazines back in the early 70's, visiting shows and watching drag racing, and "frenched" only meant one thing.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be..................

Back in the 70's we didn't have spec. and "do it this way or else!" Regs. in the manner of to days regulatory tomes, Tony, shame, but there it is >:( >:( >:(
