Title: NSRA Southern swapmeet 10th March 2013 Post by: Manky Monkey on December 30, 2012, 07:51:10 PM Thought this was already posted somewhere, but can't find it.
Checking the date on the NSRA website, I see they say it's been changed. So if you've got something different marked on your calendar, you need to change it. The revised date's SUNDAY 10th MARCH 2013 Arena Essex Raceway A1306 Arterial Road Purfleet Essex RM19 1AE 01708 867728 Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 10th March 2013 Post by: Manky Monkey on March 10, 2013, 06:28:49 PM No photos from today's swapmeet cos it was just too cold to take my hands out of my pockets, but we were there.
Purfleet in Essex is possibly the coldest place on the planet. Every year I wear a bigger coat, determined to be ready for it, & every year I still freeze. I've read elsewhere that there were less punters buying this time, but we managed to come home with a car full of bargains, so I reckon we had a successful trip. There's still a recession on, it was forcast to snow again, plus it was Mothers Day, so I'm not suprised numbers were down a little. Loony, Chris, Postie Dave & I travelled up in my little Ford Fiesta, but left home later than normal, so didn't arrive at the Essex Arena till about 11.30, (the Dartford Bridge was closed, leading to a bit of a queue for the tunnel on the M25, but not too bad. Later discovered someone had jumped from the bridge). We split up when we got inside to hunt for our respective purchases & I almost immediately ran into Mr Kapri & his sidekick Billy. Nice to see you chaps. I promise I'll be driving the Pop next time we meet. Chris & Loon ran into PantherShaun, though I must've missed him. A good day's rummaging. Loony picked up some pinstriped tools to decorate his workshop with, plus a pair of repro' rear lights for his Rover P2 project. Chris found more pinstriped parts, as well as a stainless fuel tank for his Morris Minor. Dave bought some nuts for his model A coupe & a pair of genuine 50s salt n pepper pots, (he's a bit of a 1950s buff is Dave). And I collected 3 1/2 metres of "tuck n roll" upholstery material, a new locking radiator cap & a dashboard warning light for my truck. A greasy burger & a drink each & we were on our way home again. As we left we were sat behind a satin black Ford Pop with a MMMotors sticker in the back window. No idea who it was, but made me smile. We'll be back next year. Title: Re: NSRA Southern swapmeet 10th March 2013 Post by: Chevy Rick on March 10, 2013, 09:56:36 PM Well Andy I think I must have been just leaving the swapmeet as you arrived, the only person I met was Roy Pitter who had a stall there, he said there won't be any more hotrod gatherings at the Windmill Four Marks as part of the car park has been built on and the new landlord is a right arse, he hopes to find a new venue in the near future. Only took a few photo's, just felt there was not a lot of material, the Ford model A for sale was my take home purchase ( I WISH ) didn't go round the car park my legs had given up on me so off home was for me. The blue Fleetline sedan was jolly nice. :) I guess different people view events differently. None of us were looking for anything in particular, but still managed to come away with stuff we didn't know we needed & had a great day out.
