Bung it in a skip & get a real bike?
Sorry Archie! Joking mate. Free stuff's always good.

Owned one?

A mate had one when we were growing up and regularly saw 130+

Don't get me wrong won't be a patch on my 7r I had, but they still make about 70brake.

And 6r lumps go in if need be.

And will be much faster and probably reliabler than the xs.

And it was free so ner.

Worked on one of them some years ago. Although I am 5 foot 14  ;) I dwarfed it a bit but I was really impressed. Brilliant little bike and quick too.

Going fighter / street tracker thing. Cheap hoon machine.

Putting together a bike you have all the bits for and know it fits is ever so therapeutic! Quite surprised by the size of it, not large, but not uncomfortably small.

Just need to wait for the seat to turn up now to carry on. Big bonus is the subframe is split into 2 and the front half is fairly stubby anyway so shouldn't need much altering.

So you just pour is foo d in there then.

Lol. He had a lump in the front of his upper jaw that had to come out. Unfortunately he's lost his top front canines and now looks a right state of a creature.

It's also meant his nose has dropped as well, but once he's healed from this he should be able to go in for some reconstructive bits.

Yeah he is not entirely sure of the cross - believe it to be boxer grey hound, but can't be sure.

He's our 5th lurcher we've had. Best dogs by far.

 :D

Went and had a play today. Looks like I should be able to use the original subframe which saves a headache.

Slapped it on as was and the seat was a bit long and skinny as well as interfering with the tank mount which is on the subframe.

So I took out the first 3 inches of the seat and delugged the rear of the subframe to get this
(http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af318/archie_837/754C0ABF-2E62-473A-927A-2D02C0BDABDC-1676-0000035745F7A9CF.jpg)

Looks real good in the flesh, so happy with it. The seat still needs to come down slightly angle wise which it will naturally do when I chop the rear off the subframe as that's what's holding it up.

I got some swoops bars off of lunatic so need to get them on next to get the initial feel of the shape done.

Feeling pretty happy with it today

Trial fitted some bars and risers today with some more of galaxie500's gaffa tape. Sits just right so now I need to drill the top yoke and bolt it in properly.

Don't get me wrong I love the xs, but sitting on this it feels a bit more me and brings back lots of hooligan memories.

Also wondering how this would look with knobblies going down pendine

You wouldn't use knobblies down pendine, you would use whats on there,
Knobblies would rip the course up.

Don't have the patience for that. He's filling and smoothing all the welds before getting it coated

Bars on properly, riding position seems pretty nice.

Need to tweak the subframe and then can mount the seat properly and see about getting the engine in.

;D In kit form, stowed in the back of Archie's car, ready for the Basingstoke festival of transport tomorrow.
I had a sit on this today. Very small & lightweight, (yeah, I know there's no engine in it at the moment). Gonna be a real hooligan bike.

Managed to play today with the aid of Marcus. I'd spent a few evenings with PD bending up some tube to make a new subframe and getting the general shape done. I then whizzed it to Marcus's for full welding and making some seat mounts.

The seat itself was quite strong and fairly rigid, but I made up a plate to strengthen it underneath and allow us to bolt the seat down to the subframe. Once riveted on it made it super strong and I was glad made it.

We also made some tabs  for the seat to bolt through to and the rear mount for the tank. Once all bolted up it was absolutely solid and has a great position as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

Really glad with how the lines flow - the line of the bottom of the tank follows the bottom of the seat and the top of the rear of the seat is in line with the top of the tank.

Here you can see the plate underneath
(http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af318/archie_837/C1EF61AC-5CD5-4E41-A336-D29E44092FC2-496-00000113BAD24054_zpsedc3d991.jpg)

And Marcus trying it out for size
(http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af318/archie_837/07146AD6-D421-4C6F-A83D-68C3D44DA5A6-496-00000113C99DC363_zps601fe1f7.jpg)

Now to get the engine in.

Agree about the seat. Suits the bike.
Think you need a different (read, fit and female) resident model to pose with the vehicles. Sorry Marcus ;)

Need to drop the engine back out as the chain is wedged between the frame and swingarm
