Title: Reliant wheels Post by: klogan45 on October 09, 2006, 06:37:20 PM Hello all....... getting ther with the virago 535 conversion. managed to get a reliant axle...EXCELLENT!!!!!!! But, and aint ther always one?????
What wheels will fit? I've had a look at the PCD chart and could not find anything with a 4inch pcd..... I thing that I've got the right term!!!!) Anyway can anyone tell me what will fit on a reliant axle....except for reliant wheels. Looking for something around 14, 15 or 16 inch. Size is important, the wife has been right all these years!!!!!! Halfords will flog you a set of 4 nice shiny alloys with tyres already fitted for a couple of hundred quid, then you can flog the other 2 to another triker. Or Moggy Minor wheels will fit; new Minis, some Hondas, a few models of Daewoo & Daihatsu, Mazda MX5s, all the Proton models, Renault Clios, Rover 200 & 400s, even Volvo 440, 460 & 480s.

0.53mm difference on the hole centres. Half a millimetre. About 5 fag papers. Trust me, they'll fit. Obviously, ideally they should be 4", but if you're using second hand wheels & studs, they've probably worn more than that. Keep thinking about changing mine for something a little deeper dished. I like the look of Flap's Wolfies but they wouldn't really match my front wheel. I bid on a set of 4 chrome Pajero 4x4 wheels on Ebay the other day. Went for 46 quid in the end. A bargain. My highest bid was 45. Thanks a million, that's sorted that one for me. I had a look at the pcd chart and yes there are loads, did'nt realise that the pcd was not totally crucial. Went to the local wheel shop and the bloke there was really unhelpful. Gave the impression that I'd kill meself if the fit was not EXACT, half a mm does'nt seem a great deal. I believe that I can get washerey things (technical term ....NOT) with the holes sightly oversixe to allow the nuts to sit central. Once the threads have worn a bit you'll get more play in them than that. Don't try & squeeze 4 1/4" s onto 4" hubs -I've seen it tried, but in this case we're talking a minute difference. I ran Vauxhall fitting wheels on my green trike for 4 1/2 years with no problems. Ska Man's now running Rover wheels on the same axle.
