Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: Manky Monkey on October 08, 2012, 03:27:59 PM Nice pics & a nice "period" backdrop. That bike's a big thing for such a tiny engine!
I believe Chris Ireland, of Desperate Dan's fame, is a regular at this one. You a 50s fan Kev? Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: kevsky on October 08, 2012, 03:48:57 PM brought up on rock n roll so its just a nostalgia thing for me ,but we were up there taking grand daughter to a party so it seemed a good opportunity to take a few snaps
usually it's heaving with rods bikes and trucks and rockabilly bands playing on the streets and it seems like a mini las vegas in the fifties if you,ve ever been to hemsby you'd know what i mean, but this time it very quiet the bike is tiny its just the angle that makes it look sizeable Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: JayJay on October 09, 2012, 12:26:14 AM Yes, you could easily think American motel, from the 1950s, with those vehicles parked by the chalets.
JJ :) Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: kevsky on October 09, 2012, 07:04:43 AM the road to the beach is like a mini las vegas lined with amusement arcades and burger joints looks good at night
Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: poprodder on October 09, 2012, 05:45:44 PM hi,
great pics kev, most of them are local vehicles, weekend in may is a bit busier, but it will never be like the 80's and 90's was absolutly heaving then when at pontins, bands in the dunes, packed full of people, continues line of rods etc up and down beach road................the memories........ Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: kevsky on October 09, 2012, 06:10:19 PM the loss of butlins has had a massive effect on the area
thats how we got to move here we got one of them holidays for fourpence in the sun took it in pontins at hemsby and the missus fell in love with the place# I did too cos pontins were holding a senior net ball competition and every morning the site was full of ladies running around in skimpy gym skirts and tight tops at 7o'clock I was going to complain to the management cos I was always awake at 5.30 and bored out of my head for an hour and half Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: poprodder on October 09, 2012, 06:54:46 PM lol
Title: Re: hemsby rock and roll weekend Post by: Manky Monkey on October 11, 2012, 09:13:05 AM Knew I'd seen the titchy bike before -here's another one at the Essex swapmeet back in the Spring, to give an idea of it's size.
