I also believe that 'what goes around comes around', so do a "Life of Brian", y'know,...."always look on the bright..............." as its a case of laugh or cry, and there's no point in the latter............... chin up old son :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Morrag
Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: kevsky on September 24, 2012, 06:11:20 PM sounds like the old adage is true ,you can pick your friends (or forum members) but you can't pick your family

Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: one arm bandit on September 25, 2012, 08:00:33 AM O,A,B, if its done the valve,s and possilbley the cam brg, have a look at the old motorcast components bloke at the bottom of ,bill furbers yard at ,prees heath,, (the old rubery owen axle works) dont think he,s far from you and used to be very cheap for cash ;) ;) cheers mike will give him a bell, the cam looks fine which suprised me as most the time the endura de tends to snap quarter of the cam by the timing pully? i phoned a few localish scrappers yestarday some wont split the engine and the only one that has a 1.8 d and will split want £150 for the head with cam and valves :o i do know of a head i may be able to get cheeper its still the 1.8 endura d.e but of a turbo'd diesel, am i right in saying its the same and will fit, because i have in the back of my mind somewhere the water outlet?? is a different shape?? Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: ByzMax on September 25, 2012, 12:03:33 PM Same old story.
You help people and then they just expect it. This year as with previous ones I've had people that expect me to help and expect it for nowt. I don't mind helping and for nothing but too many times It ends up costing me one way or another. ::) Easy way is to just say no.....Even if it's family Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: Mendalot on September 25, 2012, 12:22:48 PM Difficult when it comes to family, I have a standard rule for all family members (no exceptions)
my labour is free, but for each job undertaken, It is understood that when finished, I have to be taken to the pub for a few pints of what I fancy!! ;D ;D ;D All others pay cash ;) Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: spanners on September 25, 2012, 01:01:33 PM sign that used to be on the wall at ,potter,s, garage when i was younger read;
in GOD we TRUST.. ALL others MUST PAY CASH,,,,,,,, Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: ROD on September 25, 2012, 02:12:22 PM Sorry to hear youre being put upon Luke.I dont mind helping others out,but only to a point..and that point is when they start to take the p**s. Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: morrag on September 25, 2012, 05:36:05 PM "I want to tell you a story..", like I said earlier, those that can will always be expected to do so! Many years ago I had a guy move in next door, nice enough bloke, but useless, so that within a short while he was forever knocking my door for assistance, usually with his car. Well, enough being enough, one rainy day he appeared with a tale of woe regarding his front brakes, the pads of which he was attempting to change, with little in the way of tools, and even less in the way of ability and knowledge. Anyway, I went round and gave it a "lookin' 'at", then I said, "Bob, I'll fix your brakes, but whilst doing so, you go and make a start on digging over my veg. patch, which is something you can do, and something I was about to commence", well, he looked at first astounded,then asked if I was joking,to which I replied that it seemed an equitable division of labour to me, so he then declined! at which point so did I, and retired homeward! prob. solved, no more requests to extract one lazy, useless, neighbour from his periodic troubles. He moved a short while later................... ;D ;D ;D

Title: Re: re pucusions of good deeds Post by: one arm bandit on September 25, 2012, 07:54:10 PM abit more on my poor van, head is now off but was far to miffed to check it over closely for valve bendage ::) as the head gasket blew apart at no2 combustion chamber area, i decided to rotate the crank to get 2and3 pistons to the top as i found it strange the cam shaft was un damaged, on closer inspection no 2 piston is slightly lower than 3, so i have a bent con rod for starters...........more to follow/find i expect. but she will beat again i WILL NOT be defeated by a blue oval
