Post by: cunningplan on September 23, 2012, 06:26:49 PM
After going down there last year, we had planned to go again this year, as my mother is up with us at the moment, we will be taking her back at the same time.
I know there are others in the area over the other weekends they are worth going to.
(Pity is the Brightona event is the weekend after this year)

better say when and where. Starts about 7.30pm at the Fishermans carpark (Royal Parrade and Beach Road) and goes west along the main road past the Pier, Bandstand and ends up at the Wishtower.
Looking forward to it and hope the weather changes for the better.

For the first time I can remember it rained all the way down to Eastbourne Friday, so I was hoping that it would be good for the Saturday.
Woke up Sat morning to find it dry but cloudy, it was cold but clear in the evening when we walked up the road to the seafront to where the start was.
I could see there not so many as last year (There was another one on elsewhere) but it was still worth going to.
We walked just up the road and waited, as the last went by we made our way to the Wish Tower to watch them go onto the beach where the big bonfire was already well alight, this was followed by a big firework display this seemed to go on for ages (I had ran out of battery power in the camera so could not film it)
I did take some photos, but as there was no wind to talk off, it was very smokey and they did not come out to good, so I have just download some videos.
Great event and hope to go next year.

I think it's great we're still allowed to have traditions like this in this age of health & safety & bureacracy. We should burn stuff more often!  ;D
