Title: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 14, 2012, 09:21:14 PM I`ve finally had my insurance claim payout from my accident on the farm over 3 years ago!!!!!! Wasn`t as much as I`d hoped but enough to get us out of some crappy debts..........................................and for the new Cabby Toy!!!!!!!!!
Going to check it out on friday and ride it home if I have it, won`t put the mockers on it so watch this space...................................................................... ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: one arm bandit on August 14, 2012, 10:17:00 PM ride.......... youve gone and brought horse havnt you?? or a phillipeno lady friend she'l be soar by the time she gets home :D :D :D
Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Manky Monkey on August 15, 2012, 04:36:02 PM Congratulations mate. Perhaps you'd like to invest your new found wealth in Taz's Charger restoration fund? Or the Buy Manky a workshop in the South of France fund?
Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 15, 2012, 08:09:52 PM Nowhere near enough in the payout for those I`m afraid Andy. We were hoping to get enough to get us completely out of debt and get a new toy. As it is had to drop the amount for the toy and the rest to pay off some of the worst debts, should save us about £300 a month in outgoings and make things a lot easier for us here in Cabby Towers. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Manky Monkey on August 15, 2012, 08:33:54 PM That's still good news then Cabby.

Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: nabsim on August 16, 2012, 12:28:31 PM Great news Cabby, dropping 300 a month can only be good even if less than expected, should give some light at the end of the tunnel :)
Talking of south of France Andy, have you had a look at property prices in France? Changed my mind on retirement, sod the narrow boat, saw a 17 room/12 bedroom old orphanage near Limousin and its going for £43000. and it has cellar and garage under it, built in the 70's. Smallest room is 15mtrs square. Best start learing French like I have been meaning to for the last 40 odd years :) Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 16, 2012, 01:19:13 PM A couple of friends of mine retired and bought a chateau in france, turned it into a B&B type of thing. Sold a three bedroom terraced house in southend, and a bike and still had enough left over from the chatea to buy a roller and a london cab and not have to worr if they have no bookings for a year or two!!!!!
Someone I went to school with`s daughter and her boyfriend (bloody hippies) bought an old stone barn and some outhouses in the Dordoinnes (think that`s how you spell it) for 12,000 quid. Planned to live in their camper while making the barn habitable. They got the deeds and legal stuff through from their french brief and in the pack was about 12 photographs. They showed the views around the barn 360 degrees.Scenes of old run down apple orchards and meadows and the like. They called the brief and asked if there was a reason he`d sent the pics to them and were stunned when he told them "but that`s the property you`ve bought 17 acres of meadow land and orchards, plus the barn and the outbuildings). Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Manky Monkey on August 16, 2012, 07:04:56 PM PantherShaun's always telling me how beautiful it is there. His long term plan is to retire there.
-sorry, thread hijack! Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 16, 2012, 08:09:51 PM No problem Mr M, I do it to everybody else ;D ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 16, 2012, 08:15:33 PM I`ve spent the past two days clearing crap out and sorting a space for the new "Toy". Put the tens machine on turned up the juice and away I went. Had to have a break every half hour but still better than the ten minutes then collapse without the tens machine.
All finished tonight and all the crap I`m keeping is in a space a third of the size that it took up before. Rang the bankd today and the cheque will definitely be cleared in the morning.................yyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Road trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cuddles said if she`d known that the garden would get tidied up, that quickly, I could`ve had one years ago ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 17, 2012, 06:33:35 AM cheque`s cleared........................Watch this space.......................................................................... ;D ;D ;D ;D

The dealer I got it from, for a very reasonable price I hasten to add, was very insistant that it is a FLHT, Electra Glide Tourglide however the chassis numbers tell a totally different story. It is an original Electra Glide Sport circa 1989 in original mint condition, apart from a screaming eagle carb, and as such a quite rare item and much sought after. Value is about a grand an a half more than I paid for it.
You wait for ages for something good to happen and it just keeps getting better by the day. ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: BikerGran on August 18, 2012, 07:09:50 PM Yep it's fantastic! - or would be if it wasn't a Harley.........................
;) - has to be said doesn't it? Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: Cabman77 on August 18, 2012, 08:12:59 PM Yep it's fantastic! - or would be if it wasn't a Harley......................... ;) - has to be said doesn't it? I won`t hold it against you Bobbi. At least it`s not a straight out of the shop with all the extras, quite a classic really, I gather they have their own cult following. ::) ::) ::) ::) Title: Re: My next new toy Post by: BikerGran on August 18, 2012, 09:17:47 PM It was nothing personal, someone had to say it so I elected myself!
