Title: Funeral Cars
Post by: Cabman77 on June 25, 2012, 08:06:03 PM
I`ve been helping a friend set up an office for his business over the past 3 or 4 months. I found a nice, reasonably cheap unit with office space on a little estate a mile or so away from me. There is a nice little community of artisans there, a mechanic, an ornamental ironworker, repro furniture maker, signwriter, a bloke that does stickers and t shirt printing and the like, theres even an auto trimmer next door to us and a brewery on the corner. But the point of this little topic is what goes on in the corner.

Zoom in on the yard in the corner just south of the large greenhouses. Every one of those black shapes are hearses. Rollers, Daimlers Mercs. allsorts. The guy is hardly ever there, and every now and then a new limo turns up and then gradually disappears (almost like an animal carcass being eaten away on a time lapse film). I seriously want to catch him and find out the price of a Roller lump and gearbox, haven`t got a clue what I`d do with it but I`m sure I`d think of something. ;D ;D ;D ;D

So that's where hearses go to die then. Bet there's a market among the Goth types for ex hearse fittings. I guess a hearse motor would be very low mileage & never thrashed. Cool.

I bought a Ford Dorchester about 10 years ago for  £100 usual rust in places you couldn`t see but the motor was spotless. The lump n box are now sitting a rather nice trike belonging to a member of our club. Goes like stink it does.....................shame he`s blind as bat  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will have to ask Chevy Rick's friends, who run the hearse register, and have quite a few hearses parked on their front garden, whether they know of this hearse graveyard. If they don't Cabman, I expect they would be interested to know where it is. The map link didn't work for me.

I thought of getting a hearse before I was given the Maestro I used to drive.   I still might get one when I can't ride the trike any more.
