Title: The Windmill hotrod & custom bike show 6th May '12 Post by: Manky Monkey on April 28, 2012, 09:40:01 PM Taken from the Rods n Sods forum:
The Windmill Hotrod & Custom Bike show Hampshire Sunday May 6TH The Windmill Custom Show is back, Sunday the 6th of May. All welcome but we do ask for Pre 1972. There will be a Band & DJ but although in the past you have been able to get a roast dinner, this time that will not be available as the kitchen will be under reconstruction. There will be food available but it will be in the shape of outside catering and maybe a hog roast. The show will run from 11am onwards with music going on till late afternoon or as in the past, later. For those who have not been Before, The Windmill Inn is in the village of Four marks, near Alton, Hampshire, GU34 5HG, on the A31 Between Farnham & Winchester. Title: Re: The Windmill hotrod & custom bike show 6th May '12 Post by: Manky Monkey on May 06, 2012, 03:42:11 PM No sooner had I written that than I got a call from Taz, (the missus). A horse had escaped from it's field by battering a fence down, so it & it's 3 mates had to be led across the estate to another field.
So although the Windmill's a fairly local show, I didn't make it there till lunchtime. Several other vehicle events going on in the area today, but not a bad turnout -certainly enough cars to fill the pub carpark. Some familiar faces, including our own Chris, ("Phunkie Hiboy"), & Mrs Chris in their ever reliable roadster. The Windmill's under new ownership, so it was good to see the show going ahead as usual, though there was no sign of the band on the lawn outside as they normally are. I didn't venture inside the pub so assume they were playing indoors later. The hog-roast served in previous years was replaced by a burger van, but only because the pub's kitchen's being refurbished. I like this show. It's not huge -you could walk round the carpark in 5 minutes -but it's got a laid back, friendly atmosphere & I always find enough people to chat to, & enough interesting details to check out on the motors, to keep me entertained all afternoon. There's usually another Windmill show at the other end of the season, so hopefully I can finally make it there in my own rod next time. The weather was decidedly chilly today & I had other things to do this afternoon, so I slipped away early, but here's a few snapshots: Title: Re: The Windmill hotrod & custom bike show 6th May '12 Post by: Manky Monkey on May 06, 2012, 03:43:18 PM Lovely little blue model Y Ford was a new one to me. Title: Re: The Windmill hotrod & custom bike show 6th May '12 Post by: Manky Monkey on May 06, 2012, 05:28:16 PM Reading the original ad, I think it was not so much a rule, as a preference Rick. Expected to see you guys there today.
Also the Farnham classic & the Beaconsfield classic shows today. Only so many vehicles to go around I guess. It's the same as ours, Cosworth "YB" motor Title: Re: The Windmill hotrod & custom bike show 6th May '12 Post by: Manky Monkey on May 06, 2012, 05:42:14 PM Showing my ignorance of modern engines Chris! Not actually the Anglia I was thinking of -there's a grey one locally with the Vauxhall engine in.
