Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: Manky Monkey on March 13, 2012, 11:05:47 PM Doug, owner of Waldham Engineering in Basingstoke, Hants & member of the Guzzlers car club, could do them, but I don't think he'd be cheap.
Loony's Dad now has a lathe & milling machine in the workshop & is open to doing small one-off jobs. Getting hold of the material might be a problem though, unless you can supply it. Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: TwistedPatience on March 14, 2012, 06:34:06 AM Search for Mallard Metal packs on internet metal by the inch.

Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: hunter on March 16, 2012, 12:42:35 AM do i read this correctly,
You get one 2ft piece of each size (Dia) 8 pieces in all 16ft, £43.39. :o http://www.mallardmetals.co.uk/MallardMetalPacksLtd_2012_MetalPacks.pdf Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: TwistedPatience on March 16, 2012, 06:32:59 AM Yep you got it right.
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: hunter on March 16, 2012, 11:34:15 AM Bit expensive them.
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: TwistedPatience on March 16, 2012, 02:10:36 PM Not really I use Mallards for work and also when I need metal myself as you can buy as much or as little as you need.
Many places have minimum order either amount in cash or weight. RS normally supply 3 meters of everything so I'd rather buy exactly what I need rather than have loads of extra hanging around. I'm sure there are cheaper places but not found another supplier that sells by the inch. Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: pieman on March 16, 2012, 09:57:14 PM I've just had to buy 3mtrs stainless tube more than I need as my local metal dealer only sells 6 mtr lengths. So that looks a good deal
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: hunter on March 17, 2012, 12:35:46 AM I could probably by thay lot above for about £15 where i get my stuff from.
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: triker_Chewie on March 17, 2012, 06:30:45 AM personally i'd get the length and keep the leftover for "maybe's"
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: one arm bandit on March 17, 2012, 10:50:43 AM or incase you balls it up, more comonly referd to as " i have ballsed it up i just thought it would look better this way" :D
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: poprodder on March 17, 2012, 02:20:03 PM personally i'd get the length and keep the leftover for "maybe's" me too. Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: panthershaun on April 12, 2012, 04:45:51 PM I've got round the back axle problem by buying a Suzuki Vitara axle which has the same stud pcd as the 35 Ford wires... and it was a massive £20 off the bay ;D ;D

Are they drums? Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: panthershaun on April 12, 2012, 09:28:10 PM yup drums, you do need some rings to fit between the hub and the rim to stop the rims cracking but its a darn sight easier than converting 4 stud to 5...
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: spanners on April 12, 2012, 09:31:13 PM yup drums, you do need some rings to fit between the hub and the rim to stop the rims cracking but its a darn sight easier than converting 4 stud to 5... cracking ? ? explain pls ;) ;) Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: panthershaun on April 12, 2012, 09:34:11 PM the 35 rims have raised backs around the stud holes so will not sit fully against a flat drum from a later car, the rings are machined so that the whole of the rim sits flat against the drum leaving no weak spot's.. hope that makes sense :-\
Title: Re: Wheel adapters Post by: spanners on April 12, 2012, 09:41:39 PM as i was thinking /knew but a few peeps that read this wouldnt understand without further explination ;) ;) ;)
