Well, the weather was good in the morning, so Dslam and I took out some old two wheelers, I was wing-man on a 61 year old BSA, while he man handled an 87 year old Rayleigh Model 15 deluxe of 2 and 3/4 HP (and believe me, the 3/4 is very important............)

Some piccies under another thread

Brooklands.........................

I've been visiting Brooklands simply to look around as well as attend meetings/gatherings for something like 20 years.

The drive up the Test Hill used to be a real honour, as it was only for (and I may get this bit wrong) 'pre-war' (or some similar designation) vehicles, so as a spectator, if the Test Hill was open, you could be sure of seeing some interesting kit using it.
For those that don't know, the hill starts off at one gradient, increase to steeper gradient, and then increases once more before the crest. The idea was that it was a challenge to majority of contemporary vehicles. (as in in it 'Tested' the vehicles)

Over the years, the museum has been including 'modern' stuff within its displays, that don't really have a direct Brooklands connection, but I guess draws more folk through the turnstyles, and as time has moved on, it seems the old Test Hill is now open to a multitude of modern vehicles.

Before Mercedes Benz World was built, the area it now covers included an old runway, and this had an annual 1/4 mile Sprint for the Vintage Sports Cars, with vintage motorcycle invited along as guests, so lots of ancient mechanical wellie-giving, tyre-smokin', Castrol R-burning fun. Nowadays its a lot lower key and shorter to boot!............. alas................ the 1/4 mile: tis now but a memory............  :'(
