Title: Other things to make with metal Post by: BikerGran on September 06, 2011, 09:42:28 PM Sunday I was a sculpture culture vulture! Went for a ride-out to an exhibition near here.
'Mermaid' - stainless steel (http://i56.tinypic.com/33w4i6o.jpg) 'Lazy Stretch' - galvanised barbed wire (http://i52.tinypic.com/21lj52e.jpg) 'Butterfly' - stainless (http://i54.tinypic.com/71h3jl.jpg) This was called 'Sanctuary' - but before I looked at the catalogue my immediate reaction was "World in Chains" - what do you think? (http://i53.tinypic.com/292wjtl.jpg) 'Wolf Hound' - rudting barbed wire and steel (http://i53.tinypic.com/34hzxao.jpg) 'Rufus' - stainless (http://i51.tinypic.com/11776a8.jpg) There were lots of other materials used - rest of the pics HERE (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.285269468157191.93269.100000224199684&l=9ee0a99600&type=1) Title: Re: Other things to make with metal Post by: Manky Monkey on September 06, 2011, 10:29:51 PM I like those, especially the 2 dogs. Often think I'd love to have a go at metal sculpture once all the various projects are finished. Maybe a life sized monkey for the garden.

Title: Re: Other things to make with metal Post by: Cabman77 on September 07, 2011, 07:54:49 AM Love that cat. Surely, being an arty farty sculpture thing the materials should read "oxidised barbed wire and steel" ;D ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Other things to make with metal Post by: BikerGran on September 07, 2011, 11:23:20 AM No they're artists not technicians - tho the welding on the stainless pieces was impressive - almost invisible! I liked the cat too.

Title: Re: Other things to make with metal Post by: RODeo on September 11, 2011, 11:55:09 AM Love those sculptures BG! A guy round here was doing something similar with the wire from old shopping trolleys that they had dragged out of the river! They are more difficult than they look to do,as you have to get the 'pose' just right. Lovely stuff.
