Title: Fiat 126 Dynamo
Post by: reliantman on September 04, 2006, 07:40:18 AM
I have been looking around for a way to convert my Ural chop to 12 volts, and was going to fab a small frame which I could hang a modern car alternator off.
I happened to look in a Haynes Fiat 126 manual, and saw that the older, aircooled engined cars had a 12 volt dynamo fitted, and it looks like it is not much bigger in diameter than the old one which sits in a round depression on top of the crank case.
Does anyone have a line on  a Fiat 126 (aircooled) or any bits?

 Cheers.Doug

There was a fiat 126 in the scrappy at padworth a while ago? Can get the number for you, its written on the cupboards at work! What about a 12v vw dynamo? Mind you I dunno what size a fiat one is.

Thanks mate.
The ural dyno casing is 80mm dia. I am hoping the Fiat one might be the same size, or perhaps if it is a bit bigger, just by enough to fit in the round 'saddle' on top of the engine.
I did think about a beetle one, but I looked at one on ebay and they look quite large.
